The meeting' came to order at SPM all members of the Board being
present. ~ ~ 1
Warrant No. 26 t~otalling~//~ ~/~J~ ~ was pr~sented 'by Town icct~
Barrett and checked and appPoved by the Board.
Minutes of the previ~ous meeting were read 'and approved.
Mr. Gardner Russell Esq.. and Commodore Lewis Greenleaf of the
Nantucket Yacht club were present and requested the Boards
approval of work to be done in dredging in f~ont of the Clubs·
bulkhead to backfill said bulkhead. After discussion ~f the
effect of this on the pending Lawrence Miiler matter and the
questi~ons of the Boards authority to grant any peEnission it
was Voted: To approve so far as we might do so the said work.
M~. Merwin Blount, Harbor Master and Mr. B~nt Mackay were pre-
sent and requested the board authorize a buoy SW by S of the
Ht~ane Hous& on Tuckernuck on the outer shoal to ma~k the
entrance to Smiths Point Channel for boats coming in from sea-
~ard. On motion made and seconded it was voted that the Harbor
be authorized to have this buoy set.
Mr. Nicholas Norton was present and requested that Madaket Pie~
be cleaned off; It was so voted and referred to the Highway
M~. Parker Gray..was present and spoke on the matter of the Boa~
ban on g~oup singing; after discussing this matter it was voted
to rescind this restriction, with the understanding that each
operator could control his own prem~ses and if the board~had
legetimate complaints N~e~ action could be taken as~ then
indicat ed.
· ~L~. Josiah Barrett was ~e-appointed as Tov~ Accountant to serve
for another three year te~n.
It was voted to view the Hoicks Hollow Rd. ~in company with Mr.
Mather of ~ne Gas & Elec.~Co. Supt. Jaeckle and Eng. Barrett
on ~Ved. 6 July at l0 AM.
A letter was received from~he Transporation ConLmittee requesti~
that t~e Board authorize and ~instruct the Tov~n Counsel and
Arty Russell Coffin to Join as' interveners in the appeal to-the
Supremen Cou~t on the Steamship Authority injunction matter.~
On motion made and seconded it was so voted~
SecyY GIidden advise~ that M~. Rod~o~p~ie Bess~tte of the~ DPW
Waterways Div. had called requesting a conference between the
Board the Town Counsel and the siad ~: Bessette on the matter
of ~e pending petition of Lawrence Miller at t~e Wallace Boat
House property. The Board did not feel t~at we could go to Bost¢
at this time and voted to refe~ ~this matter to the Town Counsel.
It was voted on ~ecommendation of Chief Howes~that l0 MinUte
parking be established at the ~orme~ Bathing Beach Bus Stand
'and that i hr. parking be established on Lower Pearl St. near
the Carrie Miller and Millers Fish Market e~b~blishments.
It was voted to ~ave the Secy. look into -~ne matter of having
the foundation of the Snaford House painted.
The following lice~se~ and peEntts we~e~Eranted: Richard Eldridg
Common Vict. Soft drink and Ice Cream; White Elephant,~ Piano
entertainment; Charles Stackpole permit for dances at Chace Hall
weekly.for season; Also appointment of ~. Stackpole as Sp. Poll.
upon approval of Chie~ Howes;
John Hamblin z~ and Bill GaEaett were appointed Sp. Police'
officers to serve at the A~9.po~t sam~ having been approved by

5~s[ John G~ardneP ' in behalf of the Girl~ Scouts and~Red' Cross
was granted permission .~o use t~e~Childrens Beach after its.
regular closing hour in the 'evening for life saving classes.
The Board Voted to Proclaim the~ 4th of~July as Boys CLUb Day~
on Nantucket as in previous years.
