The me'eting~ came to order' at 7.30 Pi',I all members of the Board
except I,~r. Pease ,being present;'Nr. Hardy served as Ch. Pro.
Tern in the absence of Ch. Pease.
~¥~inU. tes Of the previous meetiug were read and approved.
Warrant N0. ~17, totalling $21,267.77 was presented by Town
Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Decision on road bids was again postponed until full board or~ ~ent.
An application from t,!rs'Diane Parlow for a license to opera%e
a day kindergarten or nursery was approved subject to in-
spection by the Secy.
The'Le~ion~ Post was,granted a s~ecial one nite license for
the sale of beerand soft dri~s at legion hall on ~0 April
in conjunction with a dance to be run by, the A~.
~.~r. Walter D. Glidden Jr. 'and~ Nr. ~ax Ryder Census' takers
reported that they had ca~pleted the eneumeration and that
the census ~of Nantucket as of i January 1955 was ~622'. The
Board signed the necessary statement to that effect for
forwarding to the Secy. of State.
Dreamland Theatre was granted permits '~.or Sunday movies fr~m
the middle of June through Sect.
I~r. Ju~e Bartlett was p~e~ent and discussed with the Board
the ' planting of the~piue trees and it was voted that same b~
~planted 2000 on 01d South Rd. and ~5000 on Sconset Rd. below
Bean Hill. '
~Ir. ~B~rtlet't was also authorized to plow a fire stop at the
town dump.
On the matter or. applications for a0poi~t~_r,_ent f0m Special e
it was voted.that all applications originate with the Chief
and come to us with his approval or,disapproval.
I~Irs Gord0~i:.~acDonald ~was granted a renewal of her Comu~on Vict.
license at Downy Flake Doughnut Shoo. ~
A letter was received~fro~ Atty Gardner Russell relative bo
the discuss%on of the Chtldrens~beach area-and placed on file.
D~. Albe~t F. Egan Sr~'wrote that,he would be Uhable,to make ,-~
the repairs to the Sconset Bridge as previously approved by t
Selectmen. Selectmen Coffin' is to try and ~ake other arran s.
A letter was received from Atty Rowlin~s~reoresenting I~r.~and
~rs Chapman relative to Square Landing road and voted referred
to the To~n Counsel.
~. Charles F. Handy was granted a ~en~wal of his Taxi License
