The meeting came to ~order at 7.~ ~PN all members of the~ Board
being present. ,, -~
Warrant No. 8 totalling $1~ ~, 44.?5 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Ninutes of,the previous''meetiug were read and approved.
The matter of ~t~e~t openings was discussed and af~t~r some
pro' s and con's it was the sense of the meeting that the-
applications should first bei submitted to the' Supt. of str~e'ets
that he should ,note thereon any suggestions .or recommendations
and forward~to us for final an. proval.,9., that applications
should have the length of ,time the 'street will be open endorsed
thereon. ~ ~ ~
A letter was r~ceived from L. R. Seilew district high~ay eng.;~'
asking us to m~iz~zk~xz~$t, to write and request that the
DPW put various road work, specifically
Pm~,~z~xChapter 90 work on lower pleasant 'street. It was so
voted.
A letter was received from Chief Cartwright stating,that'he~
did not wish to be re-appointed to the position of fife'chief
and that he recommended the appointment of Nr. John Gaspie.
No action was taken on this matter at this time.
It Was voted that the Town insurance be divided be~tween the
local agents of Brock and Congdon and Coleman as last year.'~
On thematter ,of the hearing at the 'State House on the various
steamship authority bills it was agreed~nat,Ch. Pease Mr. Hardy
and Nr. Glidden would appear for the'Board. ~
An application was received-from~Irvi~g T. Bartlett for the~'
position of Fire Chief and filed at this time.
Francisc~ T. R'ebimbas applied for a wine and malt pa~ckage_~Qt0re
license at his place of business on lover pleasant street and
it was voted that the same take the codrse prescribed by law.
appointed Special Police,~ sub~ect to approval of the Chief-~
of granting'liquor~licenses~was discussed and~on motion made ·
and seconded it was voted that the figure be set at 16,100.00
the same as last year. ~,
Kt was Voted to'reqUest the Supt.'of street's to remove the
Ch~istmas~trees on Main street. ~'
