Minutes of the Previous meeting were read and approved. Way off Lower Orange street were re- ceived and date of hearing set for 3. Nov. 1954. Mr. Lestor Harris Was ~'e-appointed a Sp. Poltce'~0fficer to serv~~, without pay, .subject to'approval of Chief of Police... The Board approCed and signed the Wa~,raut for the St~ate Ele on 2 Nov. and voted that same be advertised and ~posted as therein directed. . ~ Mr. Kimball Loring in behalf of a~ group'of~Sports Car enthusi. was granted permission subject to control of the Police Dept. to use 01d S; Road at 3 PM Sat for various events of this group as in previous years. -, Mrs Avis Brockway in bohaif Of tho_girl scouts, offered-the, services of. the~ olcter scouts in any comnunity project where ~ ~ their services might be of help their ~ ~1 project being service to the community; The Board voted to thank Nfs Brockway aud the girls for this offer and to file the matter for future r~ference The~e being no~further~bu~in~ss ~he meeting adj~ tO discuss~ Welfare matters.-~ In lexecutive session the Board adopted"a new' schedul~ of allow- ances to be used in granting welfare aid, and forward the same to Nr.,Cash the dispenser. ~ ~ ~ ~ · The mater of Mr. Fred Furlong ko'per Of 0~ Island-Home Working as a night officer on the Police Force was brought up and as the Board has previousld discussed ~ this matter last summer.and notified M~. Furlong that he was not to take any outside em- ployment without the prior approval of the~Board, it was voted, to write him again on the present matter and to also advise ~he Chief of Police.
