The meeting came to order~at 8PM 'all member~ Of the Board
being present.
Warrant No. 29 totalling $33,291.11 was'~presented by Town
Acct. Barrett and checked and'appr~oved by the Board.
Minutes' of the previous meeting were.re~d and approved'.
~. Mr. Horace Carter was presented and protested what h~ tho~~
was the construction of a con'~ercial garage near his residence
It developed that Mr. Carter had not talked with the other
~party and did not know exactly what if anything was being conz
structed, It was pointed out to him however that inasmuch as
we have no zoning laws in Nantucket anybody could build almpst
anything and ~less .it was a public nuisance nothing could be
done about it.
~,~Ir. Edward Gardner and .~'~. John H. Bartlett Jr. were ~esent
and discussed with the Board the vending of produce from trks
on }~tain street. It was felt that this was a matter they could
work out themselves with reference to the one hour parking.
~lr.~George Robbins' wa~ present once again and request~+~that
he be put dov~ for the next available Com~on Vict. license,
the Board advised that we had no listing, i¥~. Robbins asked
that we consider again his application for a core,non vict. li~.
for catering, whi0h the Board did later in the eyening, ~king
no change in its previous decision.
Chief Howes submitted ~ name o~ ~illiam B~dick Jr. as a
special detail officer to check parking and same was approved.
A telegram was received from~ the AOPA ~ia the airport ~r.
advising that Nantucket had been officially chosed as the'site
of the annual fly in~of this organization in ~pt.
Up~ the reco~eudation of the transp~rtati0n c~ittee~ Mr.
Irving A. Soverino was aopointed to the Transportation Co~itte
;,{r. Ripley Nelson submitted the co~tracts for the rag Week and
poisen ivy spraying to. be done by ~ssell Pope and same were
signed by~ the Board.q. ~ ~ ~
An accident ~as r~orted near the sconset bridge over gulley,~
rd. envolving a bicycle and'it was voted to have a sign' placed
on the ~bridge, stating no bicycle riding allowed.
