HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-04-06Selectmens Me~ting April 6th 1950 The meeting~came to order at 9.20 PM after first meeting as County Cor~nissioners, all members of the board were ~present. warrant No.'14, totalling $20,500.46 was checked and ~pproved by the Board. A delegation'of f~sher~en from ~,~adaket were present, comprise of Mr. S. Killen, ~r. H. Bardsley,~ Mr. Jewett and the shell fish warden Mr. Blount was also present, these fishermen recommended that some action be taken by the board to move some of the seed scallops in madaket harbour out into deeper water,' and felt that a fair price to pay for man and~boat would'be $25.00 per day. The board voted to have the shell fish warden ~ake a survey of both madaket and town and polpis and advise us.at our next meeting as to the advisability of this proje.~t anti'also give us some estimate of the cost.~ The board voted to set the price'of ~Shellfish permits at-the same figure as last year, namely Family Per~it .50, Commercia Shellfish (Bo scallops) ~2.00, and Scallop permit $5.00. Mr. Jaeckle of the Highway Dept, ~nd Mr. ~ounsvill and Butler of the Sewer department were present and conferred with the board with referecnce to the new highway and Sewer department-building, they felt that the Island Home site was a poor one and being of the opinion that they would rathe go without the building this~year and see if some better site could be located and more money obtained to do the job right. The board were of the opinion that we ha~ no objection to thi procedure, i .... The board reappointed the f011owi~g to the Transportation ~conn~.ittee, Mr. Gilbert~Nanter, Nr. William ~ather, ~r. ~oy Sanguinetti and Mr. George Jones.~ The board discussed the question~0f sidewalks and~our progra~ for such and voted to discuss the matter at a later date vAth 'our supt of streets. Ninutes of the ls st meetin~ and two special meetings Were read and approved. Thomas MaGrath Jr. Approval was grantedof ~he ~lc~h$1ic' license for the~Snack Shop,~Nanuel~Corera lower~orange'street, ~nd~tMe Chicken Box Willie Ho~se, Dave'Street, the same having been duly advertised and no objections having been made. B~d§~e~s r$ceived on the~Painting spe~cification fo~ the Sanford House but the board not hay'rig received any bids on the carpentry and Nason work these bids were tabled.
