~Ma~ch' 23rd, 1950
.T~e m~eting ca~ t~ order at 8 PM all members present except
~r. Holdgate who is confined to the Hospital.
Warrant NO-i2 'Sas~ presented'by town accountant Barrett, to~ailin
~9,500.00 and check, ed and approved by the board.
A delegation ~ consisting of ~r~ Kenneth P~ase, ~r. Donald Holdgate
Mr ~snuel Reis, Mr Manuel Duponte and ~!r. Walter Glowacki protes ed
the boild~ng of the proposed.town highway and sewer dept. garage
at the towns lot on pleasant street.
The boar~ later in the evening voted to have the new building
constructed on the Island Home.property.
Mr.~Walter Gl~wack~ was Present and discussed with the board
the situation with reference to the contradt for road work.~
Mr. Glowacki stated that he was not presently in a positon to
do this work but felt that~if he never had an opportunity to bid
that he could never go ahead and get set up for this work, he
stated that he felt that he should have an opportunit~ to bid
on many items of town road work other than new construction of
asphalt roads. The question of the ti~e element envolved at ~
present was also brought up. The board assured Mr. Gloacki that.
we were making every effort to put as much work as possible out
to bids~all things being considered.
Th'e board later in the evening voted to award the contract for
asphalt roads and~patching to the Nant~scket Construction Co. on
the same basis as previously, but were of the opinion that if
Mr. Glowacki or any other local contractor were in.the future
set up to bid on this type of work that it would be put out to ~
~r'. Seddon Legg ~as present and discussed.with the board in behal~
of Hr. Robert Currie the lessee of the Jetties Beach~some proposed
work at the beach. The board voted to inspect the beach property
at 11.45 on Nond~y the 27th.~
A request was received from ~r. Harold B. Ryder fo~ a.change of
address on his liquor license, store to be at 59.and 610range~St
Storage at 8V. It was voted to clear this matter through the ABC.
The board~voted to advertise for' bids'fo~ pa~tinE and Masonry
Work at the~Sanford House bids to be in by April 6th at 8PN.
It was v~t~d to reddest the to~n counsel to meet with us at the
next meeting of the county commissioners in April.~
There ~being no further business ~he me~eting adjourned at 11.~0
