.Pursuant~ to Warrant the inhabitants:of the t6wn of Nantucket met in the~
'American Legion }{all, Monday, February 20,'1950 at 7:00 A.M' ~ '. Car~s of~
instructions to voters, penalty cards, voting lists and specimen ballots
were posted outside the guard rail. Instructions to voters end penalty

Wesley A.' Fordyce was sworn in as Warden. ,-~-.'-, :., -
The following Ballot Clerks were sworn in: Manuel F. Souza, ,Ira W~ Appleton,
John, J. Driscoll Jr., and Charles H..Blount. .' v ,,t", ',,,::, ,,'-.
The Ballots in two packages said to contain 2000 Official Ballots were
delivered to the Ballot Clerks and their receipt taken therefor.
Constable La~ence F. Mooney presented the Official Warrant of the Meeting to
Town Clerk, Charles Clark Coffin. ~.. -, , ,i, ' '~_, 11,TM
The Ballot box and Emergency ball~t box were inspected.by Lawrence F. Mooney,
Manuel F. Souza,' Charles Clark Coffin and Wesley A. Fordyce and found to be
empty. The register on the ballot box was set at OOOO; both boxes locked
and the keys turned over to Frankf4in S. Chadwick, Constable:
At ,7:00 A. M. the Town Clerk called order and read Ar.ticle 1 of the Wa,r.rant.
Upon motion of Irving A. 'Soverino, duly seconded, it was VOTED that the polls
close at 5:00 P.M. and that when this meeting adjourn it be until 7:30 P.M.
Tuesday, February 21, 1950 at Dreamland Theatre. ~
The Town Clerk then declared the polls open and voting started at once. ',
At 12:00' noon and at 2:65 P.M. the register on the ballot box standing at
3~/+ and 630 respectively the ballot box was opened and the ballots removed
to the Emergency ballot box..-~ ~ - ,,.. ~'

The Ballot Clerks at the gate. and at the Ballot box checked their lists ..and
found 5~8 Men and 381 Women had voted,' a total of 929.
