The meeting was called to Order by Ernest Wheiden, at 8:~0 P.M., with all members of the Board being present with the exception of Chairman ½enneth W. Holdgate. Mr. - Haley made a motion to accept the minutes as read, it was seconded and so voted, Warrant No. 39, in the amount of ~180,249.88, was approved. SPECIAL POLICE Chief Howes requested that Victor Reed be appointed as Special Police as he'is substituting for Harbor Master Allen ~Holdgate, who is off Island. There being no'objection to this request, it was so granted. · ~ COMPLAINTS FROM POCOMO ASSOCIATION A letter was received from Robert MoGney, representing the Pocnmo Association, With an mnclosure from ~E V Huggins Mr Huggins comml~ined about ~the speed boats pulling skiers at extreme speed and nbt'staying within the ~rea designated for this purpose. He also mentioned that people are picking Tiger. Lilies, which is against the law and also the many cars driving over the moors. ~fter some discussion, the Board voted to meet ,.Hth Harbor Master Holdgate and the Coast Guard to determine th~'.~ulesd~f speeding in the harbor and prepare a By-Law covering ~is situation to be presented at the next Town Meeting, it was seconded and so voted. 'In regard to driving over the moors, it was suggested that a By-Law be~ considered, with a stiff penalty, for this offense, which will be brought up at the next Town Meeting. STATE D.P.W. FUNDS A letter was received from the Dept. of Public Works, in Boston, stating that under provision of Section 3G, Chap... ~0~ ~4,300.00 had been allocated to the Town of Nantucket and the Town should match this amount. CHAP. 90 FUNDS A letter was received from the S~ate stating that the Town of Nantucket had been assigned ~2q,900.00 for Cambridge St. Bmidge, Pocomo Road, etc. and the Town shduld.contribute the same amo~ot for this project as stated above. SPASMS AVENUE sAFETY A letter was received from Mr. R. 3. Mabel!er," District Highway Engineer, Middleboro, Mass., recommending various signs on the Pleasant St. and Sparks'Ave. intersection. The Board voted~to amend the Traffic Rules and Orders to install a Stop Sign on Pleasant Street at Sparks Avenue, and to proceed with State Dept. of. Public Works' recommendations. COMMERCIAL SCALLOP PERMITS A sample copy of the Commercial Scallop Permit for thp 196g-1970 season was displayed and it was voted to post a copy, in'the Selectmen's room. NEW LANE FIRE HYDRANT A'petition was received in raga.rd to placing a lime hydrant on New Lane. Mr. Haley said this was a very worthy request and made a motion that this be approved. It was'seconded and so voted. There being no further business, Mr. Haley made a motion that the men, ting be adjourned, it was seconded and so voted to adjourn at 8:30 P.M., and the Board went into Executive Session MENNETH W.
