off. Brant Point Light and run over by the Coast Guard boat 'and the
propelle'r'made deep'cuts on his' back ',:.The man .in charge of the Coast
Guard boat said he did not s~e the man in ~ha water. This incident

"MINUTES OF'THE M~ETINB - ~gust 27, 1969 ,.
l. The meeting was ~a~led to order bv Chairman Holdgate at 8:00 P.M.
with all-members'of the meeting,being present with,the eXdeption of
'Mr. Ernest E ' Whelden. , ,~ · , ~,,
2..The minutes of the'meeting of August 20,' 1969 were read'and a~prOved
Warrant #Jq in the amount of $37~898712 was approved.' ,,
3.' PUBLIC WAY IN MIACOMET AREA Mr. Parker 6~"~resented a map showing
where land in the Miacomet area can be purchased for the,sum of
$2,800.00 and he was assured bv Mr. Shurgrue that there were no ,
private bounds. It consists of about 2¢z to 3 acres of land, one mile
of which is in the water. After considerable discOssion, the Board
decided to take this matte~ up at the next County Commissioners'
meeting, September 3, 1969.
q. LAND IN ~IACOMET AREA The Board questioned Mr. Shugrue as to the
,progress he is making on the land in the Miacomet area. 'He said
he would have a plan ready to present to the Countv Co~missioners
meeting, on September 3, 1969.
5. MADA~ET AREA Mr. Robert Sands~urv requested a sign indicating a
public right-of-wav to the Madaket pier. Also', ~r, Sandsburv
complained about the planks on the Cambridge St. Bridge.,
6. CAMBRIDBE ST. BRIDBE Mr. Sandsbur¥ felt this bridge which belongs
to the Town was verv dangerous for anvons using it. , He felt that
the'planks that had been put there made the situation worse. It
should be wider and be placed in the center. The Board told him
that this was the first b~idge that was going to be ~ebuilt.
,~. SIBNS .Mr.,Sandsbur¥ asked that signs be'put in the Madaket Harbor
area eegarding rubbish, etc. The Board told him that we had signs
on hand and gave him a few to be distributed around Madaket Harbor.
8. U.S.C.B. BOAT - POINT BONITA Arthur Desrocher reported a r'umor to
the effect that,the U.S.C.6. 82 footer will be t~ansferred from
Nantucket,~and ~uggested that the Board w~ite to the ~.S.C.B..about
this. - ,
9. FLOAT STORABE CHILDREN'S BEACH Rermission was given to the White"
Elephant to store its float on the Children's Beach.
la. NURSERY SCHOOL Mrs. James Edds and Mrs. Charles Hughes requested,
permission to hold a dav nurserv school in the churbh ~ooms of, the
First Congregational Church, at 62 Centre St. .The Boa~d stated'
that no license was needed but felt that Chief Bartlett should
inspect the premises
ll. CONSTR~CTION TRAILER Mr. Howard M. 3elleme requested permission
to park his construction trailer,'which is to be used as an office, -
site, on the new Peter Foulgar Museum. A motion was made and
'seconded to grant this request with the stipulation that'this permit
expires on June 15, 1970. .,; . .
12o LABOR DAY PERMIT Miss Virginia M. Lvons requested permission to'.
ze~ain open on Labor DaV, Mondav, September l, 1969. This'-request' -

i3. BRICM SIDEWALR Mr. Charles'H. Ca~pente~, Jr.,' requested'permission
to have his asphalt sidewalk, at 25 Fair St., replaced with a new
brick sidewalk with the understanding that he would pav for half
the cost. This matter.was referred to the .Dept. of. Public Works.
'lq. BLBC½IN6 RUTTED ROADS A letter w~s ~aceived from Col~"end MrS'
Ardale V. Boldging ~egarding a load of dirt being dumped~to close
off an attractive rutted road to the ~oors. After a lengthy dis-
cuseion, it was decided to turn this matter over to the Dept. of
Public borks~ also to check with Town Counsel to-see if this can
be done.- --.~
15. YELLOW LINE M~s. Erwin R. Hilts'requested.that a yellow line be
placed across the part of~.he~___prgpe~t¥ as it is difficult for her
to get in and out of.her~,~This matter was referred to
the Dept. Of Public Works.

additional street lights on Baxtee Road~ the Board voted,to notifv ~
