The meeting Of July lC, 19G9, of the Board of Selectmen, was called
to Order by Chairman Holdgate at 8:10 P.M. with all members of the,

made a'motion to accept the minutes as read,'it was seconded end eo
voted.
Mrs..Etleen Cahoon was present in regard to Taxi Stands and said
they were still going to try to get the stand on Federal Street as
requested. ,,
Allen Holdgate,was present to give an account of what had been
done since his last report to the Selectmen. He,said signs had been
made )osting the speed in the harbor; also in Madaket harbor. He
said a sample of water had been sent to the State but he has not had
any report as yet.
Mr. Ooseph Burgess requested permission to use the Board of
Selectmen's room for a meeting on July 30 or 31. It was decided
to have Mr. Burgess make arrangements with Mr. Robert-Oones or to use
the Jury room upstairs. "
A request to hold a Supper Dance was received from Siasconset,
Casiono. They stated that two policemen would be'on duty during the
hours of the dance.. A motion was made to grant this request subject
to ~nspection if food is prepared on the premises.
Mrs. David He'cht requested a yellow sign (No Pa~king).in front
of both gates of her property as cars always park there. 'This matter "
was turned over to the Dept. of Public Works for their attention.
A letter was r'eceived from-Frank Dinsmore in which he mesigned
the )osition of Chairman of the Oetties Beach Bathhouse Committee. ',
A motion was made to accept his resignation with regret. ,
The Board of Selectmen agreed to hold a County Hearing on September
~, 1969 with the State Dept. of Public Wo,~ks. .,
A letter was received from Richard Parker, of Ailen's Diner,
stating there was an odor of gas in this area. It was recommended tO
investigate this matter end find out the cause of this odor. ~ "
Petitions for Pole ioca~ions'on Old South Road were approved.
Bids for Oiling ROads were received as fbllo~s:TM

Mr. Norcross made e motion thai'it be'given to the loweSt bidder, ..
Nantucket Construction Co. @ 2?¢ per gal., it was seconded and so voted.
Mr. Ghr~stman was present to discuss the matte~ of hi~-selling
land on Washington Street to be used as a wharf. He described the
property as being a parcel of land between property of. Ormonde Ingall
and Dr. Schnelle. After a lengthy discussion,'Mr. Christman said he
had nothing to lose in the deal and the deposit is not returnable
the'deal falls through.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:50
and went into Executive Session. '"'

A motion was made to release this Gom, from their bid and to
have Eel Bartlett furnish the Board of Selectmen with new
specifications. ~~ · ~
