The minutes of. the meeting'of oulv 2,'1969 we're read and eC'Cepted. with the corrections that an opinion from the Town Counsel.on owner- ehip of the sewer line on,Trotter~s Lane be requested~end that Michael Drisooll'.has ueated motorcycle routes throughout the Historic Districts for three people instead of two.~ The group representing the Nantucket Boys~ Club were present again requestin[ permission for a dance to be held each Thursday and ' Saturday during the summer. .A motion was made.and passed to this uest providinc the Selectmen~s office is given the name of the patrolman on duty for each dance. The Boys' Club representative. stated that Patrolman Howard Measle¥ would be on duty Saturday, Oul¥ 12, 1969. " .' Mrs. 'Ooseph A. Cahoon, on behalf of the Taxi'drivers, presented the'. Board with a'petition to allow them to use a Taxi stand on ~ederal Street where their tale]hone waa located. ~r. Norcross made a motion to discuss this request during Executive Session, it was seconded and so -voted. Mr. Christmen was preaent and discussed the telegram which had been' sent to the Governor ~equeating'a boat line from Hyannis to. Nantucket. He also ht out the fact that the Town does not'have a public wharf and he also discussed the parking situation on Nantucket. ' Mr. Oohn Sullivan was present and suggested a ~raffic plan for the future as he felt that in the future something of this nature should. be plannedJ ,He also ~eferred to'Article l? of the Town War,ant'and asked what power it did have. .~ .-~ '- Bids for the addition to the Police Station were opened and read to the pubiic: ,- ..... ................ ,. Mr. Norcross further suggeste'd that this meeted be scheduled for Wednesda¥, Julv 16, 19Gg,rat.7:00 P.~ Mr. Oohn Santos uested permission to tunnel under Nobadeer Wa9 for the purpose of installing an underground conduit.'. A motion was made to grant this permit, it was seconded and so voted. _;,.:- A letter was received from ~r. A. C. Damon, Of sconaet, 'requesting -- a si~n on Coffin st. He said there had been no sign there for and it was dangerous to the public. This matter was turned.over to' the D.P.W. for their attention. , : '. A motion was made to write and tell him that the Board does.dot think this,_ would be~a lucrative business and it is not under their jurisdiction. It was decided to-den¥.this request on Town propertv and suggest he contact the Steamship Authorit¥ if. he wants'to go on with this idea. A motion was made to g~ant this request, it was seconded and so voted, i ~ A request was received.from Mr.;':Arthur.Gordon,':Mgr.' df Ribson~s Candy Shop for, ss~on to operate his motorcycle throuc the Historic Districts.'~:,The route from his residence to his place of business at 38 Main St. wes a ~roved but the route to' the Old North Church was conside::ed to be within walkinc distance and this uest was denied, A ~equest was ~eceived f~om Anthony Ma~ks to o~e~ate his motorcycle within the Historic Districts f~om his ~esidence at LOwe~ Orange St. to his '3lace off business.
