Ouly 2,'1969 was ~alled to' o~der'by~ c~airman.~.~ Holdgate at 8:20 P.M., with all members of the Board being present. The minutes Of th~,~eeting'of Oune 26~ 1969 we~e'~e~d,.a motion was'made tO accept the minutes as raad,'it was seconded and so voted. Mrs.-Bartlett ~equested pe~mission fo~ the North Ghurc~ to sell cook books from a card table on Main Street...She was told that permission for this ia not normallvmskad for from the Selectmen. Mrs. Bartlett asked to'fly a banner at the head of Main Street on Oulv l? to 25, 1969. Permission was g~anted progiding it does not conflict with existing banner schedules. Mrs."Ba~tiett questioned the Status of theY"float under Article (1969). ~Ths Supt. of the Dept. of Public Works informed her that this was b~ing checked in order to conform with State regulations. Mrs. Bartlett ~epo~ted a safety hazard mt the fish"cleaning'station on Straight Wharf and that the.disposals are operated without a 'One of the Selectmen informed Mrs. Bartlett that the switches for the disposal were not located there and that thekeV to them was issued bV the Dock Master to boat owners upon request. This matter will be referred to the Sherburne Associates. A letter was~received, from the 'Saint George Group, requesting'per~ mission to hold a dance from Saturday, Oulv 5~ 1969 and Satu~dav, Oulv 12, 1969 for each week following on Thursdays and Saturdavs until August 30, 1969. The'Board granted permission for this'group to hold a dance at the Legion Hall on Saturday, Oulv ?, 1969 ~from 8:00 to 12:00 P~M., with the provision that Patrolman Howard Measlev will be on dutV during these hours and to re-submit their requests for the following dances, giving the name of the Patrolman in charge du~ing the hours which the dances a~e held. 'A letter was received f~om Wiiliam E. Carlton with the approval.~ of Robert F. Moonev, President of the Nantucket Boys' Cl~b, for per- ~on to have teenage dances at the Nantucket Boys~ Club 'each SaturdaV and Wednesday nights, between'8:00 and l~:DD P.M., beginning Ou1V 5th. A motion was made to grant this permit, it was seconded and~ so voted with the stipulation that the name of the Office~ on dutV during these dances be given to th8 Selectmen's Secretary's office' each week~ Mr'. D. Winn, in behalf of a party of four, requeste~ permission to make a tour of the Island which would take seven days to make a study of the w~ld life, shell formation, etc. He said he had permission f~om land owner~to camp on their land. The Board decided to take this matter up during E~ecutive Session. Mr. Christman was present to ask if he could use the sewer system, for his new house which runs on Trotter~s Lane or if. he had to,use the sewer on Fairgrounds Road. Motion was made to request an opioion on ownership or sewer lines. Mr. Sullivan was present and dis'cussed the tax rate on Nantucket Island. He made ~eference to Oohn Doe land and f~lt the Town should' get more'tax on this so they would have control over it; - -..
