A motion was made that they be approved as read, it was seconded and so voted. "Mrs.' Har'oid Lindley,'of the Nantucket G~'den Ciub, advised the 8card that the Annual'Fiower Show was to be held on.Ouiy iGth between 2:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. and requested permission to have India Street ciosed during those hours. She aisc requested that a Banner announcing the Show be set out over Main St. a week before the Show, 'Ouly 9th. Mr. Norcross made a motion that both these requests be granted, it was seconded and so voted. Gilbert Burchell, Or., Chairman of the Soil Conservation District, was 'present and requested permission to hold monthly meetings of the Soil Gonservation Committee, which would be open to the public~ in one of the rooms in the Town and County Building. A motion was made to grant this request, it was seconded and so voted. Mr. Burchell was told to find out which night would be available for these meetings. He said he would do this. 'Oames H. Glidden was present on behalf of the Sherburne Associates regarding the transfer of the~liquor license from the Ne~w Sea Cliff Inn to La Crepe, Inc., and presented some facts relative to ,this matter. Mr. Robert Leske,,w'as'-Present to object to thi'S transfer, stating thai if 'this was granted it Would give the Sherburne Associates c~ntrol over another liquor license. After a lengthy discussion over this matter, the Board voted that this be taken up during Executive Session~ The following'requests for renewal~of licenses Were received and it was voted that these take the course prescribed by law and be properlv inspected before licenses could be issued: The Overlook Hotel- The Ships Inn Anchor Inn Gordon Fol~er Inn Barnacle Inn ~' Ledweli Guest House Byron Dunham's Rooming House Safe Harbor Gertrude Hum~-s' Rooming House Century Inn Lodging House. Hr~ Wiiiiam Griede~r requested permission to erect a s~dewaik stage on Orange St. ~r. Norcross made a motion that this be turned over to~ the D.P.W. for their attention~ Mr. Haiey seconded the motion and it was so voted.'~ ~Chai~man Holdgate~announced that ail bids for Grass C~tting were over the appropriation and were rejected. He said that this has been. turned over to Supt. Cones for the D.P.W. to take care of~ ~r. ½enneth Pease requested a ~eneWal of his Taxi Permit for Pease's Garage. It was voted to grant this request. Supt. Cones t°ld the Board that be had contacted Sherburne Associates regarding Spruce Street and theV said this matter would be taken care of in two weeks. A petition was received from the Nantucket Gas & Electric Co. to install poles fo~ power lines on Lovers Lane. It was voted to discuss this matter at a meeting with the Nantucket Gas & Electric Co. and the Board of Selectmen to see if future installations can be placed undergroun~ A letter was received from Mrs. Titus requesting that ½imball Ave. be scraped and oiled. This matter was turned over to the D.P.W. for their attention. ,.An'a~pliCation fo= thc'job as Town and'County Treasurer was,, r' ,received from Paul'V"Hoadley., It~was voted to dispose this appli- cation with othe~'s'that had been.received during the. Executive Session. A iette~'was received from Stanley E. Hunter requesting a yellow line be painted'in front of his house on Academy Lane. ,'Mr. Oones said he had viewed,this situation and felt the line should be painted. 'It was voted to turn this over to the Dept. of Public Works for their attention., Renewal'of Taxi Licenses for 1969 were received from: 3. H. Wood & sons ' Mrs. Hartwell Thurston It was Ootad that these be granted. The following requests ~re, received and it was voted that thee be inspected before licenses could be issued: Mrs.'Arthur Oellis Boast house license The Skipper (Alice Erickson) Comm. Victualers license from Oune 25 thru September The Overlook Hotel' Innholders License Nesbitt Inn (Mrs. Ma~y Burgess)" '" ,A request fo~ a beer and wine license was ~eceived f~om Erickson for the Skippe~ Restaurant. Mr. Noroross made a motion that this be placed on the waiting list. It was seconded and so voted. Mr.'Lewis Ray informed the Board that the To~n'Bomfort Stations were ready to be opened and the Board voted that these should be opened at once. Mr. O. M' Ram~s~requeeted that the Town place a rubbish barrel at the Nantucket Bakery on Orange St. This request was granted. Mr. Lowell suggested t~at a~letter be ~ttt~n to Sherb.ur'ne ' Associates reguesting that the cobble stones on Spruce Street be removed immediately to make this street passable to the shore front. It was voted that the Dept. of Public Works take care of this matter. There being no further business, the Board adjourned at 9:10 and went into Executive Session Executive Session The Board voted to appoint M~., Paul V. Hoadley as Acting Town and Bounty Treasu~e~ to be effective Ouly l, 1969., It was suggested that a letter be written to Mr. Hoadley requesting that'he familiarize himself with the duties of Town Treasurer starting 3une 16th as a Clerk under Mrs. Roche.
