The regular, weeklY meeting of the Board of Selectm~n came to order at 8:00 P.bl.
all members of the Board being present.'
Warrant No. 38, totaling $147,907.72, was.presented b~ Town Accountant Barrett
and was checked and approved by the Board.
The minutes of the pr~evi0us meeting were re~d and 'approved.
Mr. Frank Psaradelis of Sconset was present and discussed with the Board the
matter of the bicycle path.~ 'He stated,that he and Mr. ~IcGarvey, who are
abhtters, were in favor of the continuation-of the new construction of
said bicycle path as far as the Siasconset Pumping Station' 'blr. and Mrs.
Clark, also an abutter who had previously objectedl were also present and
stated that they are withdrawing their objectipn and that they had talked
to the State Engineer and that all parties had agreed that the path would.
be constructed at this particular area as close to the road as possible and
as near the existing grade as possible to provide proper drainage in the
area.
Mr. Peter Guild was present and advised the Board that a group of local and
summer residents were in the process of organfzing an association for the
fostering of a fishing tournament at Nantucket, outlined the ideas and
purposes which they had in mind and suggested that the organization would
like to have a member of the Board serve on their committee.
On motion duly made and seconded, it was voted that Mr. Kenneth Holdgate
be designated as the Board's member to said committee.
Alien I~. lloidgate, Shellfish'IVarden,'was present and reported on tests in the
Harbor as to pollution and gave reports on two tests he had already made,
which he stated showed no pollution in the Harbor at the present time.'
" On recommendation Of Shellfish .Warden lt~ldgate the Board voted to estab-,
lish the same regulations for'the taking of scallops for commercial use
as were in existance last year; and further voted that the season for the
taking of soft-shell clams be again open beginning this coming Sunday, the
1Sth, clams to be taken Sundays 0nly -.one 10-quart pail per Person per
Sunday. ~.
Mr. L~wis'Davidson was present and suggested that the Board ~ight'lo~k into the'
matter of the need for a small fireboat of some kind in Nantucket Harbor

of the Quaise Road during the spring season and it's impassibility, and
it was 'suggested that the only solution to this would be an Article in

A letter ~as received from Lester E. Bachman of the ~FAAadvising of his'retire-
and thanking the Board for courtesies*extended to him during his

A letter was received £rbm Mr/ Scott Stern~ of SS Lily Str~t'requ~sting a
[ck sidewalk in front of his premises for which he agreed to pay half
of the cost, which was approved and referred to'the D.P.W., provided we
have the necessary/funds.left in our budget. ' ,.~

A letter was received from Mrs. Alice Weatherbee protesting a State-operated . ,-
Motor Vehicle Inspection Station near h~r premises on West Creek Road.
