HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-06-25Selectmen's Meeting 2S June 1968 The regular weekly meeting of the BOard Of Selectmen came to order at 8:00 P.M. all members of the Board being pr,esent.' ~-, Warrant No. 27 totaling $194,702.73 was presented by Town A~countant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board. ~, The minutes Of the previous meeting were read and approved by the Board. An invitation ~as received from the Nantucket Yacht Club inviting the Board to be present at it's opening ceremonies on Saturday the 29th at noon. Mitchell's Bo~k~Store on Main Stree~ was granted a permit to remain open on the ~ fourth of July and Labor Day. Sconset Market was granted permits ~for' the sale of ~i,l'k and ice cream and for soft drinks. ,,,~: : . ,: Theatre tV0rk'shop, Inc. was' granted permission to' pla~e flyers in bulk lots 'at various locations about the Town, no distribution to be made on the street: On request 'of Chief Howes, Huian A. 'Small, Jr.'and John C. ~rley were appointed as special police to' serve with the local Department for the summer. ~ John Hardy and Wayne' Ringer for duty as special police at the Nantucket Yacht Club~ William F. Burdick, Jr. and Paul F. Smith were , appointed acting sargents at no increase in pay to cover the vacancy - in the position of Sargent caused~by ,the resignation of ~esley E. S~'mmons.
