Mr. Alexander M.~Craig of the SteamShip Authority was present and requested that the Board write a letter to the Army Engineers requesting them to ,.,. take action relative to the maintenance dredging of the Nantucket Harbor channel, and it was so voted. Mr. Abbott Johnson, Maintenance Man at Our Island Home., was present and asked the Board what they wished to do with the old_~a~er,~fountain which ~'had previously been near the south entrance of the Island ltome but which had been struck by a motor vehicle sometime ago and was now in storage. Notice was received from'the Army Engineers relative to an application of Sherburne Associates to dredge an area in the Harbor south 6f Commercial l~arf. Contents were noted and placed on file. An application was received from St. Paul's Parish ~0adistribute flyers was not approved, but the Board did approve the distribution of the flyers in bulk form by leaving same at various central locations. On request of Chief Howes, Roll Sj01und was.appointed special ~olice for 'service at the Airport and genry McKeller a special police for service with the Town Police force. · . ,, The following licenses and permits were approved: Dreamland Theatre','Sunday movies; Cap'n Tobey's, Sunday. entertainment; Nantucket Sea Foods, common victualler; Four ~indsl recorded music weekdays only; Fred and Evelyn Bennett dba The flub, milk and ice cream; Rogers Cabot dba Ships Inn Innholders; Jolly Chef Restaurant, common victualler; milk and ice cream and soft drink; Jetties Beach, common victualler, milk and ice cream and soft drink. ' A request was received from the Hospital Addition Fund Drive committee ~equest- ing permission to hang a banner across ~lain~ Street. This was referred to the D.P.~. to be handled in the same manner as the Garden Club and ~{usical Arts Society. ., .,. ~. ' The Board received the warrant;or' the Dog'Officer.~oting that all dogs.must be restrained from running at lodge and voted the Chairman to sign same,. on behalf of the Board. Fire Chief Bartlett was granted approval'to attend the Fire Chiefs~ Con~enti0n from 23 June to 27 June.' The minutes' of the~previous meeting were read and ap~r0ved. Parker Gray of the conservation commission was present and stated the Commissio had completed their project at the Consue Springs area and that they were now returning same to the control of the Park 5 Recreation Commission. Thomas Coffin, Chuck Davis, Miss Nellie Sylvia, Ant~ne Sylvia and Mrs. Agnes Sylvia, all'residents of the area, were present and complained to the Board about water conditions in their yards and cellars which they attribute to the Consue Springs Pond enpoundment which had been constructe by the Conservation Commission during the restoration of the Sp~ings area. The Board promis~ed that they would personally look at the'area in question and see what steps could be taken to remedy the situation. Robert Mooney, Esq.~was present in behalf of LaCrepe'of Nantucket, Inc. who' were~'making application along with A. Preston Manchester for the transfer of the seasonal all alcoholic beverages license held by Mr. Manchester "'for premises on ~fain Street to new premises on Straight Wharf. Mr. stated that he felt that this matter should beadvertised as provided by law and that the Board could later decide on the merits of the particular application." . ' Robert'Leske was present and commented on this matter,'and sta~ed that he felt Sherburne Associates already controlled at least four licenses and that the Board should not approve a license in this area.~ ~The Board was in receipt of an opinion from the Town counsel that all applications either original or for transfer must be advertised and that' the Board could decide whether or not a transfer was ~n the public interes but that an applicant would have an appeal to the Alcoholic'Beverages "Control Commission.' He further advised that on a change of location and a transfer from one holder to another, that the Alcoholic Beverages eon-' trol Commission h~d ~dvised that two applications were necessary. Inasmuch as we had 'only'~e'ived an .application:for a transfer'of the. license and not for a change of location, no action was taken on this matter at this time." ~ .... ,~, "':: ~',' ~'~ :,,,::,A,?., ~r'"Frank Burr"and ~r. Ronald Gofdsandwere pre~ent'with reference to the matter of. the transfer of the licenses of the Snooty Fox and Ropewalk .Restaurant to Mr' Goldsand. This matter having been advertised in' 'accordance with law, the Board later in the meeting approved the transfer of the various licenses held by. Mr.'Burr to Mr~Goldsand.'' Mr. James Cr~mstOn' was pre~ent'relative to a letter he had received wi~h .... reference to the parking of a school bus off of the streets when not in use. He stated he could not understand why he was the only one to such a letter. Mr. Peter Guild was present and stated that he felt with all o~ theconstrUctit in the Harbor Square area;that this.,area was quite congested'and suggeste~ that the Band Concerts be held back on Main Street as they were previousl
