The ~gular weekly meeting of the BOard of Selectmen came to order 'at 8:00 P.M
with ali members of the Board present.
ltarrant No. 51, totaling $108,729.17, was presented by Town Accountant Barrett
and was checked and approved by the Board.
The minutes of the'preVious meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Frank A. Burr and Mr. Ronald H. Goldsand were present and presented an
application requesting the transfer of the seasonal All Alcoholic
'Beverage License held by Frank A. Burr to the said Ronald
It was voted that this matter take the course prescribed by law.
Mr. Henry Kehlenbeck and Edouard Stahkpole were present as members of a
Chamber of Commerce Committee relative to a clean-up campaign that they
were orgaflizing and asked if the Board would approve the use of two trucks
and two 'drivers from the D.P.W. on June 8th from 8:00 A.M. until noon to
assist'in this campaign and same was voted approved.
A request was received from Schofield Brothers, Engineers, for permission to
hang a sign at their place of business on Federal Street, same having
been approved by the Historic District Commission. It was voted to
approve this request .... ,
The following applications for licenses and permits were granted: 'The Opera
House, Inc., piano and recorded music; The Ropewalk, piano and recorded
music; Charles Handy, Taxi Permit .... : ~ . '~
A request was received from Chief Howes for a'no parking area on Delaney Road~
from Cliff Road of 280 feet on the east side along the property of
Mrs. MacManus. It was voted not to approve same.
Seddon Legg, Sr. was apProved as a Special Police officer relative to his
duties as Night l~atchman at the White Elephant Hotel for the coming

A request from Frank Sylvia for a loading Zone on Washington Street near the

A lette'r was received from the U.S. Army Engineers relative'to the Broad Creek
opening advising that it would be necessary because of the size of this- -
project to obtain approval of a supplementary appropriation to cover this
study, and it was voted to send a letter to Senator Edward Kennedy and'.
Congressman Hasting Keith requesting that they insert the necessary
in the River and ttarbor Bill. '
Notice was received from the Dept. of Agriculture that they wo~id'be
their beetle trapping program on a limited basis this coming'summer.
There being no further'business, the 'Board Weni into Executive Session and
