The'regular ~weekl¥ '~eeting"o£ the Board of Selec'tme~ came to 'order at 8:00 P.M.
all members of the Board being present.
Warrant No. 22, totaling $56,4771'42,' was presented by Town Ac¢ountaht was checked and approved by the Board.
~Fhe minutes of the previous meeting,were read and approved by the Board.
Bids were received on setting, hauling and painting of various Town §nd:.~adaket
guest:'.:_~oorings as follows: Peter V. Gomes; Town guest moorings $840.00,
Madaket Harbor Buoys $550.00, Polpis and Upper Harbor buoys $450.00.
George Andrews and %~alter Barrett; Town guest moorings $523.00, Madaket
Buoys $994.00, Polpis and Upper Harbor $594.00

it was ~oted that these bids be awarded as
Upper Harbor to Peter V. Gomes and Town Guest Moorings to Andrews and

Bids were received from Nantucket Construction Co. and ~alter F. G~owacki for
.various items of road work, and after evaluation of the bids/it was voted
that the general contract and the oiling be awarded to Nantucket Constructi
Company and the seal-coating to Walter F. Glowacki. Specific bids on
Hooper Farm Road, Crooked Lane, Sherburne Avenue, Derrymore Road, I Street
F Street, Cambridge Street and Our Island Home parking lot were received
from both Nantucket Construction Co. and ;~alter F.~Glowacki; ~Valter F.
Glowacki b~ing the lowest bidder on all of the items except F. Street.
It was voted that the contract-for these roads be awarded to him with a
. completion date of on or'before 15 August; ' On F Street in Madaket,
Nantucket Construction Coi bid $1500.00 and IValter F. Glowacki bid $$,000.(
This $~,000.00 was obviously, 'from the specifications, and d6mparison with
previous bid items, an error; and it was suggested that Mr. Driscoll of th~
Dept. of Public Works contact Mr. Glowacki and work out a comparative
corrective bid for this item and also check with Nantucket Construction Co
to determine6i'f they were interested in this job inasmuch as .they were the
:,- lowest bidder on this item. If they were not interested then the contract

· renewal of a license to Mr. Gilbertson to rent small sailing~craft at the
· Jetties Beach area and also'to solicit for water skiing. '~ After some
'~- :-discussion,~ it was voted to approve a license to Mr. Gilbe~tson for the
-. season of 1968 for the~price of $150.00. No boxes, storage/ equipment and
other material to be constructed or left on the Beach.:
The Board met with representatives of Blue ~Oss and Blue Shield and again
~' 'discussed the matter of the existing .Town and County program. "It was
,- , agreed't.Hat Blue Cross and~ Blue Shield would work up a Comparative State-
- ment. of a $24.00 a day plan and a plan which would have no daily limit but
~ · which would call for the subscriber to pay for the first $25.00 of each,
,-. '~'hospital admission; and to have sufficient of these Comparative Statements
; mimeographed so that the Board could send them to each Town employee
requesting their decision on which plan they would like to have the Town
· ! purchase.

The Veterans. 'of Foreign ffars was granted a permit for a parade on-.Memorial Day
"' as in previous years~ '.. .-
The American~ Legion Post was granted approval of its annual 'car~i~al to be
held from Augurs 6 to 10th at the Cyrus Peirce School grounds, being the
sa~e location of last year."
Don 'Allen Auto Service, Inc was 'granted a ClaSs II Car Dealers LicenSe.
The following licenses permits were. applied for'and apProve .; .C ick n
Restaurant, dancing on weekdays only; Woodbox; Innholders License; Albert
Stackpole, Common Victuallers,' Milk and Ice Cre~ and Soft Drink at two
locations,' Surfside and Children's Beach; Mid-Island Bowl, bowling pemit
weekdays and Sundays and Soft Drink License; Young's Bicycle Shop, Soft
Drink License; John Arno, common Victualler and recorded music for Vincent'
Pizzeria; Congdon's Pharmacy,:Milk and Ice Cre~ and Soft Drink; and upon'
request of Walter F.' Glowacki,: Mary Ann BEan,' Walter F.'Gl'owacki and
Willis S. Burbler, Jr. were appointed as Public Weighers.
Mr. 'Philip' ReAd was present'and 'diS~dSsed with the ~0a'rd the :problems that
" would be forthcoming when the newly enacted legislation to allow liquor
' establishments at local option to remain open weekdays until,2:00 A.M.
bec~e effective in August. ~is matter was discussed but no' action taken

It w~ voted t~ ~authorize the Conservation Co~ission to have some b~sh cut
at the curve on the Madaket Road just beyond the second bridge.
It was ,voted to'~pen the Warrant for the special Town' Meeting, s~e to be held
on June 7th at 8:00 P.bt. at the High School Auditorium; and after
.~` ' ex~ination and discussion of the eight articles,' it was voted at 10:45
~that' the l~arrant be closed.~'~''
