Mr. Loweli read the minutes of. the meeting of May lqth Which were approved as read. Mr. Parker G~aV asked permission tO plant some food for wi~d life on Town property nes~ the Dump where the Fire Drill area is; also in an'.. area in back of Miaoo~met. The Board suggested that he contact the Fire?. Department before he does anv planting to get their advice on where thio' planting shoul~,.,~e done. ,' The following bids were opened and read: TENNIS COURTS: ,. Bid from Frederick P. McClure in the amount of $1qO0.O0 and one [rom James H. Anderson dba Noble Surfer in the amount of $1525.00 Mr. Norcross made a motion to accept the highest bidder,.Mr. Lowell seconded the motion and the'bid was awarded to James H. Anderson in the amount 6f $1,525.00... GUEST MOORINGS:: OniV one bid was received from George E. Andrews in the amount of $595.00 which was accepted by the Board. A bid was received from Walter S. Barrett and Beo~ge E'.'Andeewa covering Madaket and Tuckernuck buoys in the amount'of $995.00 and on the Town and Polpis Harbor markers in the amount of $595.99. As this was the onlV bid received, the Board voted to award same to above, mentioned parties. Bids for Grass Cutting were received from the Medeir°s Brothers, Frederick Gourville and Ernest Oliver. 'Since these bids were submitted in different manners, the Board voted to turn them over to Supt. Jones, of the Dept.~of Public Works, to be analyzed before award can be made. SEALGOATINB:. Bids were received from Walter F. Blow'oki in the amount of 55¢ per gal. in place and from Nantucket Construction Co., in the amount of 58¢ per'g~l;iin place. Mr. Norcross made ~ motion to award this Contract to the lowest bidder, Walter F. Glowacki. Mr. Whelden seconded the motion and it was so voted. ~r. Robert Ch~i's~man"asked if it would be possible to turn the swings on Francis St. Beach ~round so it would'not swing towards his cottage. 'This matter was turned over to Supt. Jones, of the Dept. of Public Works, for their attention. Mr. Christman made' reference to the ~own owned prope~v in the Creeks area and suggested that this wouid be~ideal for~a beach or posstbiy a Marina so the Town wouid have a public piece where smaii,~ boats couid tie up instead of having to,pay a fee to a privately owned~ ~arina. He als° brought up the subject of the~granting of, liquor licenses in connection with the population of~the Isiand. He quoted facts he had obtained whiie in Boston where he had contacted a Hr. Riiey who is connected with the State Aicohoitc Beverage Commission.' He stated he wouid appreciate it if the Board wouid reconsider the popuiation count as he fait there was a need force seasonai aicohoiic iicense for restaurants. He suggested that a three man Board be appointed to handie this matter. A letter was received from Roy E. Sanguinetti, Town Counsel, stating that in regards to Article 28 (brick sidewalks and curbs).the abuttor ~has the right to specify the type of material desired in constructing a sidewalk. Mr. McLaughlin said he could only afford,to have his sidewalk retarred at this time. ~r. Lowell suggested that since the Historic Districts Commission specified that new brick sidewalks be built within the Historic Districts perhaps Mr.McLaughlin could wait another year and it might be possible to put an A~ticle in the Warrant so that the abuttor would be required to pay less than half the cost of the construction of a new sidewalk. Land Court proceedi~gs~'~egarding the area around Re~dy~ ~. Pond were sent to Roy E. Sanguinettt, Town Counsel, requesting that he take necessary steps to .est these actions. ..~..~ There being no further business, the Board adoourned at 9:00 and went Executive Session, ,~:, ,~ EXECUTIVE SESSION ~-Re:.Albert Egan's y.~ The Board voted that a ~heathed: bulkhead ttpe retaining wall (creosoted) be built at the rear of the Department of Public Works town property line retained et ends to avoid working out.' Also, sams type of bulkhead'at f~ont of p~eaent ~illed area of ~r, Egen's pro~erty with returns at ends. It was also voted that there will be no )rivete sewer system at this and that:any sewage disposal shall be connected to the Town system. Board voted to deny~'the ~equest of~the New Se~ Cliff Inn to transfer their seasonal alcoholic b~ve~ege license to La Gre)e of Nantucket, Inc. Afte~ a joint meeting of the Board and the Selectmen, it was.suggested that no more pole installations shall be granted but ee~)us consideration should be given to underground service only by the local utility company.
