The Meeting Came to order as Selectmen at 8 PM having been preceed~d,~y a
County Commissioners Meeting,"all members of the Board being present.

and-ch'ecked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
~qendell H. Howes of the Police Dept. was present and requested ~hat the Board
discuss the matter of making Old N. Wharf St. from S. Water to Easy
One lqay in'that direction, and Dock Street One ~ay from Easy St. extension
Chief Howes also asked the Board for information on whether or not the
Salaries voted for the Chief of the Police and Fire depts would be
retroactive to 1 Jan. 1968 this having been in a special article.
It was voted to request an Opinion of the To~m Counsel on this as to
the Boards authority. "

The Board also discussed with the Chief the matter Of the out of Town patrol
which the Board has opposed at the T°Wn Meeting, this matter was gone
over at some length and it was voted to set up-an early meeting for the
purpose of disucussing this with all concerned.
Mr. btyles Reis was present and asked for information as to how he should proceed
to obtain a Junk Deal'ers license to be exercised at premises.owned by
him in the Miacomet area. He was adivsed that the'proper procedure was
to file a written request with the Board and,~hat we then would view the
area.
Mr. Alexander M. Craig Jr. Steamship Auth. member~ was present and went over
with the Board the proceedings of the Authority with reference to the
acquisition of the properties of Nantucket Boat Inc. Also suggested to
the Board that some bills relative.to the Authority were coming up for
hearing at the State House and that it would be appreciated if some of
the Board ~embers cuuld attend; the hearing being tomorrow~thurs, at 10AM.
Mr. Lowell, ~r.~ Holdgate and Mr. Whelden stated that they would be availabl
to attend.
Mr. Hathaway of the Penetrin Systems Inc. was present with ~r. Drisco~'0~ the
DPI~ and ~iscussed with the Board the problems envolved with the work we
. are proposing, and stated that if the bid specifications were put,out at
once he would if'the lowest bidder be able to get on this job this spring.
Mr. Albert L. Silva was granted a renewal of his Class I used cat'dealers licens
attN. Beach St.
It was voted to advertise for Town and County appointive positions same to be
in the hands of the Board by 7.30 PM March 20th. .~: ;
blt. IViliiam Mien was granted a renewal of his Common Vict. license' for the
preparation and packaging of frozen foo~s.
Lennox Bodman and Clarence Swift were granted ~enewals Of their auctioneers ,
licenses.
The following applications were received for alcoholic beverage licenses and
voted to take the course p~escribed by Law: Capn Tobeys, Mad Hatter,.
A. P. Manchester, Robert Christman et ux, l~alter Glowacki, and Chicken
Box restaurant.
There being no further business the Board went into executive session and .. adj. at 10.30 PM.
