6 December, 1967
The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen came to order at
7:50~P.M., having been preceeded by a County Commissioners
Meeting. Ail members of the Board were present.~'~
The ~nutes of the previous meeting were read. and approved.
Warran~ No. 50, totaling $17,178.51, was presented by Town Account
Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board.
Commander Parrtsh and James-Robe~tson of the V.F,W. were present
'~and invited the Board to be present at the Flag-raising
Ceremony on December 7th at 7:45 A.M.
It was voted that the following Alcoholic Beverage renewal appli-
cations take the course prescribed by law: - James T. Worth,
Inc.; Murray,s~Beverage Store, Inc.; Green~Coffee Pot, Inc.;
Byron L. Sylvaro Post~82,~American Legion; Francisco T.
R~bimbas; Philip Read, Jared Coffin House; Ryder's, Inc.;
The~Islander, Inc.; A. Preston Manchester dba Upper Deck and
'Bosun's Locker; Sankaty Head Golf Club, Inc.; and Walter C.
Hatch and Helen Hatch dba Hatch's Package Store.
Nathan Thurston applied for renewal Of his, permit to Remove and
Transport Garbage, which was approved~ i~,
Nathan and Helen Thurston dba Sunny Acres Ice Cream Parlor on
Surfside Road,~ applied for renewal of Common Victualler
License, Ice' Cream and Milk License and recorded music.

~Joseph x. McHugh was present and advised the' Board that he had
~urchased Property 'at the rear of the Town Garage on Lower
Orange Street and was requesting a permit tO travel across
the Town property in order to fill~ same.' ~This matter was
.~discussed asdto whether or not this was ~marshland, which
would come under the Hatch Act; and it was voted to met at
~he premises on December 7th at-12:30 P-M?,~ to view same.
An application 'from Robert' CaldweY1 ~' et~al ~-for~ incorporation under
Chapter 180 As Nantucket Life Saving Museum,. Inc. was receive
through~ the Secretary of State and the Board certified the
corporate members as bet~ of good character and~ reputatto~i
Notice was received from the U.S. Army Engineers relative t° the
application of the Steamship Authority for permission to
' dredge and construct at its property at Steamship Wharf,
Nantucket and contents were noted and filed.

Inasmuch as this was now allowable under the Alcoholic

There being no further business, the Board went into Executive
Session and adjourned at,10:30 P.M. :
