HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-29Selectmen~s Meeting 29 November 1967 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen came to order at 7:30 P.M., all members of the Board being present. Warrant #49, totaling $385,937.81~, was presented by Town Barrett.~zand was checked and approved by the Board. The~minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A delegation from'the local veterans of.Foreign Wars was present relative to flying the flag at the Veterans~Memorial Plaque 24 hours a day during the Vietnam War. The.suggested that there be two spotlights rigged to ~lluminate the flag at night and that the post would assume the~.obligation of caring for the flag and the installation of the lights, and all they were asking of.the Town was to provide-~the necessary electri- cal energy. ~.After discussion it was on motion duly made and seconded voted to approve the request-to be effective on December 7th at*8:00 A.M.. -~, ~ The members of the Post also reiterated their position taken in a letter of last week relative to having.the fountain relocated at its 01d location at the~foot of Main Street. Richard Parker and Earle Smith dba The Mad Hatter was granted a permit to serve setups ~incconnection with alcoholic beverages which may be brought by guests during the off-season.~ A letter' was received from Sidney Killen, Leasee of the Jetties ~.Beach, enclosing the check for rental of same and advising that he would again be interested in bidding on this project when same came up for renewal, The Board vo'ted to ~set the following rates relative to plumbing inspections: . Application. Fee,~flat rate $6.00; Fixture Fee, ..$1.00 per fixture. ,. It was also voted that.the Plumbing ~ Inspector would bill the .Town for inspection services at the .-rate of ~6.00 per inspection. ~on motio~ 'duly made an~ seconded, it was ~voted that Austin Tyrer be appointed as Deputy Plumbing Inspector subject to Civil Service approval. -: There being .no further business,-the Board ~went'into Executive Session and adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
