HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-07Selectmen's Meeting 7 November 1967~~ The regular~ meeting of the Board of Selectmencame~to'0rder at ~8:10 P.MJ,.having been preceeded~by a County Commissioners~ ,'~ Meeting. ~All members of the Board were present. Warrant No. 46, totaling $17,330.02, was presented by Town Accountant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Alexander M. Craig, Steamship Authority member, was present ~and explained to the Board the proposed alterations to be made by the Authority this winter at the Nantucket Wharf. A letter was received from Mr. Wiser Of Northeast Airlines and 'Crocker Snow of the I,~C relative to the meeting which we .had requested sta~ing that they would be in touch with us relative to same. Letters were received from Mr. Charles Rand and Mr. Robert'L. Taylor reqtmsting appointment to the Airport Commission to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. Samuel Garrison. On motion duly made and seconded, it was voted that Robert L. Taylor be appointed to fill'this vacancy. Mr. David Roberts was appointed a~public weigher in conne¢~tion with his duties at Nantucket Construction Company. A petition was received Signed by various Nantucket residents requesting that some action be taken by the Board to provid~ some housing for the elderly. It was noted that.before.'any action could be taken, the Act relative to same would have to be approved by the Town~'and it was voted to insert an appropriate Article in the Town Meeting Warrant. James F..Egan of the American Legion Post was granted a'permit to hold a parade under arms on Veterans'~Day, Nov. llth. A letter was'received from Mrs. Robert TaYlor and Mrs.'R°ger' Young'tending their resignations from the Adult Education Committee and suggested the names of Mrs. Philip Bartlett~ ~and b~s. Sidney Small as*replacements. It was voted to .~. ~accept the resigDations as submitted and appoint Mrs. Small and Mrs. Bartlett'to this Committee. An application was received from the Theater Workshop tO use ~a room in the old Town Building to store costumes, etc. 'and was taken under advisement until the Board had an oppnrtunit to make a survey of the building and determine what space, if any, was available. Selectmen,s Meeting Page 2 A letter was received from~ the Dept.~'0f~Public~works~~Middieboro District Office,.advising the~am0unt to be allocated to the ,Town for ChaPter construction and maintenance in 1968. Contents were noted and filed. A letter was received from Lorenzo C~ Judge~of Middlebor0 relativ to the location of the at the foot Of Main Street and hoping that the ,ard would see that it was re-located in the location. There b~ing no further business,.the Board went into Executive Session and ad'~ourned at~9:30 P.M~
