The meeting came to order at 8:00 P.M.,' all members~0f the~B0ard~
being present. -...
Warrant No. 247, totaling $56,311.98, was p~esented'by. T0wn
Accountant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board~
The minutes of 'the 'previous meeting were read and approved;
Mr. Parker Gray, representing, the Nantucket Sportsmen's Club, was
present and requested that the Board support t~e stand of
the Sportsmen's Club which was opposed to the new deer
regulations re. garding the taking of antlered deer.~ This
matter was discussed and taken under'advisement; ~Mr. Gray,
speaking as a'member of the .Conservation Commission stated
that he had' re6eived complaints from Various beach fishermen
that the area known as the Gauls -' near Great Point had eroded
considerably during the past winter and suggested that if
possible some snow fence be erected in the area to try
building it up. ~ This matter was also taken under advisement
Mr. Ernest Tripp was present and discussed the matter of the ·
surface water which had collected on his property at Lower
Pleasant Street and stated he felt that same was now a
health problem and some action should be taken to relieve
this situation. This matter was discussed'at,me length,
and the Board said they would look into the matter and see
what i~ediate solu~on might be possible.
Miss Diane Wasl~y was~present with reference to the operation of
the ice cream truck which the Board had apProved for her
last fall and was advised that the license would be limited
to no sales on Main Street in Town'and Sconset or within
100 feet of another licensee~selling ice cream. ~
Walter J. Glowacki applied for~a pemit~ for soft drinks and to
operate teen dances at his Premises on Old South Road from
nine to twelve, and same was voted aPproved~ Mr. Glo~acki
~als° appointed as a~special Police officer for d~ty at this
location only. :~
The Board discussed new taxi rates with Mr
.~Chester Barrett, Jrt',
Mr. Carl West' and Mrs. Charles O'~eil and~after some dis-~
cussion, the Board voted to establish new ~axi~ rates and
r~gn~ations as set.out on the list attached hereto and ~de
a part of these minutes. ~ ~ ~
Mr. Walter Glidden,z~P~ aha Mrs. ~0hn Walsh were p~esent and
~ complained to the Board about the parking 0f.bicyc!es in the
street on Board Street in front of their proPerties. After
discussion it was voted to post this area from South Beahh
Street to Easy on the south s~de "One hour Paxking, motor
vehicles only'.~,

A letter was ~eceiped'.from the Nantucket Yacht Club inviting the

An opinion w~ 9ecei~'d 'f~~'['Counsel advising that an exam-
ination of.title.of Doc~St~'~'~t and Straight Wharf showed
khat the~ area in ~uestion'~as an abutter's way and that he
~ould find no record .same being public.

TAXi REGULATIONS
· Regulations and Rates established by
Board of Selectmen on 29 June 1967,
for the licensing of Taxis in the Town
of Nantucket: ~ ·
1. Every applicant must apply annually
to the Board of Selectmen for a
renewal of or issuance of an original
Taxi license.
2. Tho fee for said license as issued by!
the Town Clerk after approval of
the Boar0 of Selectmen, shall be
? 1.00 plus 25c for the issuance of.

issued by the Clerk to an applicant.

operates more than one vehicle, ad-
ditional buttons will be provided on
request of the holder of a license
on his providing the Town Clerk
with the name and address of the
driver or drivers for whom a button
is requested. The licensed owner
shall be responsible for seeing that
his employees wear said buttons as
herein provided and shall upon the
termination of the employment of
any driver see that said button is
collected and returned to the Town
Clerk. The Town Clerk shall collect
the sum of 25c for each button as
issued.
5. The licensed owner of every vehicle
carrying persons for hire shall post
on the dashboard and on the back of
the front seat of each vehicle, a card
not less than four by six inches in~
size on which shall be printed in a
size of ·type not less than 18 pt. for.
