HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-06-21Selectmen,s Meeting 21 June, 1967 The meeting came to order at 8:00 P.M., all members 'of the Board being present. ' ~' .~' ' ~ Warrant No. 58, totaling $2~5,626.28, was presented by Town Accountant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board~ The minutes of the~previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Frank Hardy, Mr. Lester Ayers and Mrs. Van Pelt Were' present ~and protested the granting of a license for a restaurant at ~No.~7 India Street and stated that they felt same would be 'an additional noisemaker in the neighborhood where they all operated guest-houses. No action was taken on the matter at this time. ~ .~ The application of .the wannacomet Water Co. for the storage'of diesel and kerosene fuels at Wyer,s Valley Pumping Station was voted approved, a hearing having been held this date at 10:00 A.M. and no objections having been received. A le~te~ was received from Col. Albert Evans,'U.S. Air Force, extending his thahks to all of the various agencies in the community who:cOoPerated with reference, to the investigation of the recent Air Force Picket Plane. The Cloth Company of Nantucket, Inc. was g~anted a permit to ,remain open for the holiday of the 4th~of July. The following licenses and Permits were granted: Albert .Stack- pole, Surfside Beach and Children's Beach- Common victualler milk and ice cream and soft drink; Christian Schell dba' Schell's'Steak House, Common Victualler,'pian0 and recorded music; Irvin Holdgate,.Carol NickerSon'and Chester Barrett,J Taxi~ permit renewals; Sidney H. Killen dba'The Jetties Beach common Vict~ualler, Milk and Ice Cream and Soft Drink; Special Police~ Gilbert Wyer, Michael Moran and Franklin Chadwick for duty at the Airport;'John L; Hardy and Wayne Ringer.for duty at Nantucket Yacht Club; Gerard Richard for duty with the Polfce Department.~ ..... A iet~er was'received from Mariot't~King'suggesting a-st'op.'sig~ 'at the corner of Walsh~and Easton Streets and Harbor View Way and EaSton Streets. Same was' referred to the Dept. of Public Works for investigation. '~ 'iFrank~F.':Sylvia wrote requesting a'loading Zone marking on the east'side of Washington Street at the rear of his property and same was taken under advisement.
