TheSelectmen's Meeting Came t° order at 8:00 P.M. with.all
~ members of the Board present. '~ ~ ~
Warrant No. 24, totaling $1~4,566.30, was present0d by Town
Accountant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Ralph Marble was present and Called to the Board's attention
the fact that a section of road adjoining somerset Road and
Bartlett Road, which has been braveled for many years, does'
not appear to have been laid out. It was voted to have the
Clerk of the County Co~r~nissioners set up the necessary hear-
~ing and plan as regards the laying out of this section.
Mr. Charles Ferreira was present and inquired as to whether or
not the Board had any information on his inquiry as regards
' the status of a street running from Union to Washington. He
was advised that this matter had been referred to'the Town
Councel but as yet we had no reply.
Mr. C.'L. Sibley was present and asked if the Town.forces could
clear up the immediate area on the Madaket Road where the
new underground culvert had been installed. ~ It Was so voted.
Mr. jesse gldridge, Caretaker Of the Sconset Dump, was'present
and'asked if the Selectmen would take some action to have the
Dump area cleaned up and bulldozed and was~advised that we
had made arrangements to have a bulldozer at the Dump in
the immediate future.
The following Taxi Permits were granted:~ J. H. Wood& Son, Marie
Thurston, Howard W. Hull and Charles F. Handy.
The following permits were approved;'all subject to inspection:
Robert W.~Lloyd~ sea Cliff Inn,~Innholders and recorded music
and organ; The Opera House, Inc., Common Victualler~ and
recorded music and piano; Nobadeer,Inc., orchestra'entertain-
ment; Nantucket Pharmacy, Inc., Soft Drink lincense~
It was voted to approved the application of Eieanor Lucas for a
permit to store gasoline in one 1,000 gal.. underground tank
at.premises off Polpis Road, a hearing having been held this
date and no objections having been received.
An application was received from the~Wannacomet Water Co. for a
permit to store kerosene and diesel fuel oil at premises at
Wyer's Valley and da~e for hearing~was set for 21 June at 10
It was voted to award the contract for the new buoys in the Upper
Harbor to Barrett and Andrews for the price of $495.00.~
There being no furhher business, the Board went into ExecutiVe~
Session and adjourned at 10:00~.
