The Sele~tmen,s Meeting came tO order at 8:00 P.M~,' all members 2~ being present. ~.~ ~,'
Warrant No. 22 was presented:by Town AcCountant*Barrett, totaling
~ $29,502.04, and was checked and approved by the Board.
The minutes Of 'the previous meeting were ~read and 'approved.
Mr. Robert Leske was~present and protested against the granting
of a license to~hhe Cloth Company of Nantucket, Inc. for an ~
Ice Cream Wagon'at Straight Wharf in front of,his restaurant
property.'~Mr. Franklin P. Chadwick and Mr. Abbott Johnson
also were~recorded in opposition. Mr. William Euler and
Robert Schofield spoke in favor of the granting Of this
permit and explained the proposed operation to the Board.~',
It was pointed out that the Board's position in the'past had
been against granting permit for open-air or.sidewalk-type
food or iceccream services.
After discussion it was voted that this matter be take~
under advisement, and later in the meeting it was voted to
deny the application of the Cloth Company of Nantucket, Inc~
for an ice cream license at this location.
The application of the Cloth Company of Nantucket,.inc~'for a
common victualler, ice cream and milk, soft drink and recorde
music entertainment licenses at the Sweetand Soda Parlour,
Main Street, were approved.
Mr. Louis Scagliarini and James F. Gill, stockholders'of the
Siasconset Book S~ore, Inc., were present and presented
letter to the Board requesting the approval of the transfer
of the stock of said corporation to Edward O'Qonner and
Fred R. O,Donnell of Wakefield, Mass. They'advised that they
were proposing to sell this business and that if the Board
approved the request for the transfer of stock that
Mr.~O'Conner would serve as General Manager of the corpor-
ation's business at Siasconset.
A notice was received fr~m the Laud'Court relative to the petition
of Parker W.' Gray to register title to proPerty at Fairground
Road, SUrfside Road and Hooper Farm R0ad and contents were
noted and filed.
A request was received'from the Dept.,of'Agriculture for per-,
mission to continue,the'Japanese Beetle traPing experiment
this summer and it was voted approved. A report was sub-
mitted giving the Board an outline of~the results of the
program over the past two years.
