HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-05-03selectmen,s Meeting 3 May, 1967 The meeting came to order at 8:15 P.M., having been by a County Commissioners Meeting. All members of the Board were present~ Warrant No. 19, totaling $17,215.01, was presented by Town Account ~ ant Barrett and was checked and approved by the Board. The minutes of the'previous meeting were read and apProved. Brtan'H61dgate, on behalf of the Sophomore Class ~of the Nantucket High Schooli' was granted a permit for a'dance'at Bennett · Hall.to be'held on 5 May from.7:30 P.M.to 12:00 Midnight. The chaperons are to be Mr. and Mrs. Everett Lamb and Mr. Cleary with Donald Gibbs as special poli,ce. the Junior Class was granted a permit to hold its Junior Prom on 19 May at the High School Auditorium from 8:30 to 1:00 A.M.. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slozek and Mrs. Millie Godfrey will be chaperons.and special police to be determined later. The Board was in receipt of a letter from Frank'S. Sylvia, a local antique dealer, protesting the issuance of a license to~a James S. Mellon to have an antique~sh0w. Mr. Whelded also mentioned that he had checked with~some of the parties in charge of the Legion Hall and had~been advised that they had never been contacted by Mr. Mello~. After discussion, it was ~Voted that this application be denied. Bertha O'Neil was granted a renewal of her Taxi Permit. Roger A. Young dba Mid-Island Bowl was granted a 'permit'to conduct bowling on weekdays and Sundays*and a'renewal of his common victualer and soft-drink licenses. ~he American Legion AuxiliarY was granted )ermission tO hold a Poppy Day on May 26th and 27th. notice was received from the International'D°ry~Racing Committee advising that. eliminations would be held next summer'and that if the'area had any interest in participating w~uld we please advise. The matter was filed. ~otice was ~eceived from the U. S. Army.EngineerS. on the'matter of the petition'of Sherburne Associates to dredge, fill and ~construct bulkheads at Straight~.,Wharf~'this being the same work that~we',probably had notice of from the State Dept. of Public'Works~' This matter was~filed. ~n applicatton~was~received from Allen W~ H01dgate. for a permit~to store-gasoline in one'275-gallon underground tank at premises on Hummock Pond Rd., date for hearing to-be 17 May at 10 A.M. ~here-being no~'fur~her business, the Board went into Executive Session and adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
