HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-03-15Seiectmenfs Meeting 15 March 1967 ~' ..~.~ The meeting came to order at 7:30 P.M.,~all members of the Board Warrant No. 11, totaling $48,128.69, was presented by Town Accoumtant Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and apProved. Mr. Michael Driscoll, SuPerintendent of the Department of Public Works,~was present and submitted bids,on asbestos cement pipe, catch basins and covers, for.the Dept. of Public Works and a sealed bid on a 12-inch chipper. The bids on the pipe were from Hilco Supply, Johns-Manville Co.~and John Walsh. The bids on the catch basins'and manhole'covers were from E. L. Lebaron Foundry Co. and John Walsh. These bids were left with Mr. Driscoll to correlate on a Comparative sheet so that ' the.Board could determine which bidder was the lowest~meet- ing the specifications~ ~ ~- Only one bid was received on'thee 12-inch chipPer, which was from the Frost Co. of Arlington, Mass. in the amount of .$3~200, terms F.O.B. Woods Hole -~30 days net. InasmUch as this amount was the exact appropriation for this particular unit, it was voted to accept said bid providing the Frost Co. would deliver said equipment to Nantucket for the bid of $3';200. The Board approved a petition of the New Eng. Tel. & Tel.'Co. for underground cable locations on Hummock Pond Road, Old South. Road and Macy Lane, Vesper Lane, Atlantic Avenue and Miacomet Road (Bartlett Road), Madaket Road and Cambridge Street. The Board also approved a pole location for the Nantucket Gas & Electric Co. on Kimball Avenue. ~' Esther Gibbs was granted a renewal of her Innholders License for North Shore Restaurant on Center Street. Mr. Lennox Bodman was granted a license as a MasSeur. Notic e was received from the Board of Registration of Plumbers ~ that an examination will be held at Nantucket on 21' April Nantucket Institution~ for Savings was~gra~ted a~permtt for a~sign to be erected at its premises at Orange Street, same'~being 'approved by the Nantucket Historic Districts as to form. k letter was reCeiVed from Edmund J. Ram0s, Chairman of the Carni- val Committee of the American Legion notifying the Board that arrangements have been made to hold the annual carnival in August at the Cyrus Peirce School lot, same being directly in back of Cyrus Peirce School and abutting on Sparks Avenue. This matter was tabled for later action by the Board. ~ letter was received from John T.
