meeting came to order at~7:30 P.M., all members of the Board
being present.

appeal from a rUling of the Town Planning Board in refusing to
approve a subdivision plan for land in the~.Creeks area owned
by Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Sayle of Union Street, Nantucket
was filed with the Board on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Sayle by
Attorney Robert F. Mooney.
Attorney Mooney informed the Selectmen that the Planning Board
had refused to approve the subdivision plan'because the pro-
posed lots would*not have access to a public way.. He su
this could be done by extending Washington Street into the
Shore Reservation which is owned by the Town.
The Board ruled that this Was a matter-for~con~ideration of
the County Commissioners and~-Ceferred the matter to the next
.County Commissioners Meeting.~
r. Robert Egan, on behalf Of the Freshman Class of Nantucket High'
School, was granted a permit for a dance at Legion Hall on
February 24th from 8:00 P.M. to Midnight. . .
Lawrence Lee wrote noting his support of the proposed zoning
By-Law. Contents were noted and placed on file.
letter was received from various Nantucket residents'on vacation
in Florida stating that they were in favor of zoning but felt
that such an important question should be on the Ballot.
Chairman Whelden stated that he was advised by members'of the
Zoning Study Committee that this question had been taken up
by them with the Attorney General's Office and th~t~they
could not recall a single occasion where a zoning ordinance
had ever been voted in this manner.
letter was received from Mr. John Welch on'behalf of Sherburne
Associates stating that they would be willing to ~plore with
the Board the possibility of renting to the Town on a nominal
basis a certain area of boat landings, when constructed, which
might be used and controlled by the?Town in any manner they
saw fit. It was the feeling of the Board that we should look
into this matter further and go over the existing plans with
Sherburne Associates.
Board voted to~ set the estimated seasonal population for the
' "purpose of granting seasonal alcoholic beverage licenses at
16,100.
no further business, the Board went into Executive Session
and adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
