The mee~ing'came to Order at ?.30 PM all members of *the Board
being present. '
warrant, No. 3, totalling $110 , 569 ~ 07 'dollars was presented by,
Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
MinUtes Of the Previous~meeting were read and approved.
In accordance with a legal notice advertised in the Nantucket
Inquirer and Mirror under dates of. 29 Dec. 66, 5 January 67
and 12 January 67, the Board of Selectmen and the Nantucket
Planning Board met in joint Session this date relative to
a hearing on the matter of a By-Law regulating trailers and
campers. No 'one appearing'in opposition to same, it was on
motion duly made and seconded, unanimously Voted by the
Selectmen and the Planning Board to insert the,following
article in the Warrant for the annual Town meeting:
. ?'Not more than one house trailer or Camper (camper being
defined as a unit providing sleep,~ng quarters mounted on a
motor vehicle and whether capable of being detached or built
as an integral part of such vehicle, and whether so mounted
or detached) shall be kept on any parcel of land. No house
t.railer or camper shall be used as living quarters while so
located, nor while on any Way in the Town of Nantucket. Space
shall not,be leased for trailers. Provided, however, that
the foregoing shall not prohibit the'establishment, of a tr-
ailer camp under the provisions Of Chapter 140 of the General
Laws, and further, provided that the Board of Selectmen, in
their sole discretion, may issue special permits for the use
of Trailers or Campers as living quarters in connection with
carnivals or other fund raising or pub!lc service activites.
Any person violating any provision of-this By-Law shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $50.00 for each offense.
Each day ,that such~offense'continues shall constitute-a sep-
arate offense."
Pole location on Pitman Road in the ,village of Siasconse'~ was
approved for the Gas and Elec. Co.
A lett~, wa~ received f~°m Hugh and Alfred Sanford relative to,
moorings in the Old N. Wharf area and voted referred to the
Harbor-master for his 'suggestions.
Mr. John W. McCalley of 13 Vestal St. was granted permission to
erect,an old fashioned gas-light type street light at the
curb at said premises same to be maintained at his expense.
Kent K. King dba The Moorings was grante~ a renewal of his Inn&
holders license. .~ ·
M~ltimofes was granted a permit to remain open on,holidaYs during
~ ,the 1967 season.' · , ·
Gordon Ford, Inc. was,granted a Class I used car dealers~permit.
Mrs leeds Mitchell in behalf ~f the Musical arts society was
granted a permit to have a banner over Main St. as in the~
past to advertise the societies events during the summer of
1967.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session and adj. at 9.30 PM. ,v.
