HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-07-20Selectmen's Meeting ~20 July, 1966 The meeting came to order at 8:00 Pm, all members of the Board being present. War~ant No. 29 totalling 29,066.2~ dollars was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. John Santos was present and conferred with the Beard relative to the converting of a portion of the school at Siasconset to a Police and Fire Station ~s provided in an article in the last annual meeting. After discussion, it was voted to meet with Mr. Santos at 8AM Saturday to examine thins property. Mr. James Killen,' on behalf Of the American Legion Post,' was present and requested a permit for the annual Legion Carnival to be 'held August 9 -13 at either the First National property, the Boy's Club property, or property at the rear of the First National. This matter was taken under °adyisement until Mr. Killen could advise as to the actual location.; On request of Chief Howes, Michael Jaskwhich Was appointed as special ~.p01ice to serve at the Steamship Authority Wharf.. A letter was received from Harold Gaillard commenting on the fact that there was no sign designating lO minute parking on Cambridge St.' at it's lower end and further requesting that this area be set aside for parking for the Opera House. The Board voted to advise Mr. Gaillard that we could not set aside parking for any particular '- individual or business, and also if there was no sign in the area,~ 'designating lO minute parking, to have one erected. ~ A letter ~Was rec'eived from Robert W. ~ Ram'sdell thanking the Board for having the Dionis Beach Road scraped and oiled. ~ There being no further business the Board went into executive session and adjourned at 9;30 PM James K.
