The meeting < came io order as Selectmen at 8.45 PM having been
.-preceeded by.a DPW meeting, all members of the Board being
Warrant No. 19, totalling '$59,380.00 was presented by Town
Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by .the Board.
Minuies of the previous meeting Were read and approved.
Mr. 'David Worth was "Present and requested information on the
matter of a Measles Vaccine program and it was voted to
refer this matter to the Town Nurse. .~
Mr. Rogers"of~th.e Mass Hosp. Ser..and Mr.~John Lane of the
Bos,on Mutual' Ins. Co. were present'and discussed with the
Board *he matter of new contracts covering Town and County
employees.~'Mr. Rogers advised that *he rates for Hosp. and
Medical' services would increase for single members .20¢ per
month and for family members 661¢ per month. Mr. Lane advised
that the rate for the Life Insurance would remain the same
at 1.42 per 1000 per month'and the Accidental death and dis-
memberment at .08¢ per 1000 per month. It was voted to quthoriz,
the-Ch: to sign the' necessary contracts for the Board to
renew these matters.
Applications for renewals of liquor licenses were received from
the White ~.lephant and the Harbor House and voted to take the
course prescribed by law.., :. '.
On request of Manuel'~Machado the following were appointed Sp.
Police for the VPW fire and police patrol: Lionel Start,
Leroy F. Ryder,' Francis W. VanArsdale,Donald P. Conway,
· Carlos Grangrade,'Manuel Machado, Richard Maynard, Robert Humes
Byron G. Mooney and Robert E. Lyon.,
Mr. Allen H°ldgate,: Shellfish Constable Was appointed a'Sp. 'Police
The Leg. Aux. was gran'ted 'Permission'for'a poppy day on May 27th
and 28th.
Mr. Albert Stackpole advised that he was informed that Mrs Cole
was 'not interested in the matrons job at the Childrens Beach
nor the Boards offer as ,to the use of the ,bldg. and advised
that he would be willing to assume the duties of caretaker
of the cozfort sra. in return for a lease of the .bldg. to
be used as a snack bar, he'to make- all repairs~~ Same was '.
voted appr0ved.~;ith ,he~s,ipulation that any exterior
-changes have prior Board approval. ~
The VFW 'reque~ted-'~appointment Of 'Lionel Starr and 'Robert 'H~mes
as Co-ch. of the memorial and other legal holiday observance
commi*tee and same was voted approved.
Approval was granted for a parade under arms on Memorial day.
There being no further business the Board went into executive
session and adj. at 10 PM.
