The meeting came to order at"8~15 PM.haoing been preceeded by
a Dept. of Public Works meeting, all members'of the Board
being present. ~' :
Warrant No. 17, totalling~$43;150.30 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Charles Flanagan of Union St. was present and asked if the
Board had had any report from the State Dept. of Health
as regards the matter of the gas'odor at his Union street
residence. No report having been received it was..voted to
contact the state dept. and as advices on this matter.
Mr. Robert Marks Jr. in behalf of the Jr. cIass was granted a
permit for a dance at Legion Hall on Pti. April 29th from
7.30 to 11.30 Chaperones to be Mr. and Mrs Fred Tilton,
~a member of the Legion post and asp. police to be on duty
same was voted approved. .-
Applications were received for the position of Mt. Man'at Our
Island Home from Abbott E. Johnson, Ray Sylvia, Robert Lyon
and James Hilldrick, and it was voted to appoint Mr. 'Johnson
to this position.
Mr. Lester C. Ayers Jr. requested an indefinate leave of absence'
from the Mosquito Control division of the DPW and same was
voted approved.
The fo!lowing licenses and permits were approved: Joseph Cecot, Milk and Ice Cream :.
Vincent Arno, S. Water St. Common Vici. and recorded music
Gordon Folger, Gordon Folger Hotel, Innholders.~ '
Siasconset Casino Asso..Sound motion pictures Sundays
Kenneth Pease, Taxi permit
James Allen Taxi permit

Mr. Makcellus L.'Glidden was granted approval~f0£ his regular
two weeks vacation starting 12 May.
The warrant for the Dog Officer was received From the TOWn Counse
signed by the Ch. and presented to Mr. Day. the Dog Officer.
The Board executed a rehewal of the lease of Legion Hall and
voted to have the Ch. Si~n same in behalf of the Board.
voted to advise the'Naut. Hist. Asso.~ that t~y' C0'uld have the
Sup. Court furniture if they felt it had any HistoriCal valu,
Voted that the Town DPW use the former Reg. of Deeds and Town
Clerks office for temporary quarters until the new garage
~nd office was constructed, and.that the Town C.D..unit
might use ah~ups~airs room for their radio equipment and
general headquarfers.
Mr. Edgar Lindstrom who has beenserving in the positioh of
temporary~Dir, of Civilian Defense was appointed to the
position of Director.
Mr. Allen W. Holdgate was appointed a member of the rights of Way
committee.
