Meeting 16 M~rch 1966,~
The meeting came'~.to order at 7.3'0 PM all members of th~ Board

Warrant No. 11, totalling $38,839.84 was ~ presented by 'Town Acct. Barret~ and checked and approved by ~he Board.
Minutes of ,$he pr'evious meeting were read and approved.
Town Counsel~Sanguinetti was present and thanked the Board
for his reappointment as same. '?
Mr.' Tel Berna was present and requested thkt the Board consider
the matter of having Vestal St.' made a one way s~reet
going West from Milk to Bloom or Quaker road. ~is mg~er
was ~aken under advisement.
Mr.- and'Mrs Albe~ S~ackp01e were presen~'and~requested ~ 3
year lease,on having ~heir Surf Boa~ Snack Bar at ~he
Surfside beach, ~. S~ackpole advised Sha~ he wuld provide .
~he'necessary elec. service and pay ,for same. He also
'applied for ~he position~of caretaker or custodian ~ of ~he
'existing bldg. BoSh of ~hese maC,ers were ~aken under
advisemen~.
Mr. S~ackpole also advised that he would be interested in
~he bldg. atthe childrens beach also, s~a~ed ~ha~ he
would assume the care of ~he comfort stations in re%urn
for a lease, this also was ~aken under advisement.
Mrs Bernice Cole was present and also advised ~hatshe was in-
.~eres~ed in ~he Childrens beach opera~ion, ~his ma~er
w~s discussed a% some length wi~h her bu~ no action ~aken
a~ %his time.
Mr. Dan Tomlin of.23 W. ChesSer~S~, reqeus~ed a permi~ for
a-dance aS Legion Hall on 26 March from 7.30 to 11~30 '
and same was ~aken under advisement.
MiSs Penny Godfrey in behalf of ~he Sophmore class requested
permission ~o hold a dance a~ Leg. 'Hall on'lB March from
8 to 12,' and advised ~ha~ ~hey would provide Sp. Police
and Chaperones, and same was vo~ed approved.
Mr. Henry Garne~ was p~esent and discussed ~i~h' ~he Board
his employmen% wi~h the highway'dept.'-div, of the DPW
stated he had heard that some. men were going $o be paid
3~00.per hour, and that he fel~ tha~ if additional or
be~er paying-jobs'were ~o be'se~ up'that men who had--
been with ~he dept. should have some priori~y.eThe Board
.agreed and further advised ~hat rumor ~o ~he contrary
no one was being paid a~ ~he rate of $3.00 an'-houri
The following liquor license renewal applications were received
.and voSed %o Sake ~he course prescribed by laws: 'Allen .
Lobster Grill, A.P.Manches~er, Upper Deck. The Islander Ific.
and Wal~er C. and Helen Hatch.
A letter was received from Dr. and Mrs Schnelle of Washington
St. protesting the granting o.f a license lo sell food and
beverages on L. Washington street, and filed with the
~.- application.
Voted to adv. for bids for the new vehicle for the Pire same lo be in by next meeting.
Ryders Inc. was granted a renewal of its Milk and Ice cream lic.
Mr. Clarence 'Swift was gr'anted a renewal' ·his.auctioneers

as Supt. of, the Highway dept'.' and i~ was vo%ed to aceept
same and send Mr.',Jaeckle a letter of ~hanks for his long
years of service to ~he Town;
Bids on ~'he doing' ~f Laundry*for :~r Island Home were received
from onl~ one bidder Beverly A~ Hilts on ~he basis of ;14¢
per pound, all flat work ~o be.washed and finished, all ,.
clothing to be rough~dry~ same to'be picked up and delivered
On mo~ion duly made and seconded i~ was~ voted ~o Accept,
Mrs Alber~ Brock requested permission ~o h~ve ~he ~{obile Ches~
X ray uni~ parked on Middle Pearl street during nex~ week
and same was voted' approved. ~'
'Mr.' Herbert*F. ~Sw~ei Jr. et al db~ Discovery Playhouse on N.
Libert~ St. were granted a permit for ligitimate theatre
productions on weekdays 6nl~ at said premises, on the same
terms and conditions as last ar. le:~closing hourll PM
no parking on street~ no group singing, and no food to be
sold on the premises.
It was voted t°' adv. for applications for Town and County
appointive positions same to be in the hands of the Board
by next meeting.
There' being no further business~the Board went into executive
session and adj. ~at 10.30 PM. ~ ,
