The meeting came to order at 7.30 PM all members of the BOard
be ing· pr e~e nt.
"Warrant No'~"8 totalling 16',135.36 was presente~d by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
~iinutes 0'f'the previous meeting were read and approved..
Mrs Jessie Murphy was present with reference to the matter of
the transfer of her wine and malt package store license
to Joseph A. Cshoon Sr. same having been adv. as provided
by low and no objections having~been received same was on
montion made and seconded voted approved..
An application was received from Albert L. S'ilva for a street
light on N. Beach St. and filed for later examination of
the area by the Board.
Mr. Irving Staniy was'granted a renewal his auctioneers lic.
A Pole locations on Milestone Road. for the Tel & Tel and Gas
and ~lec. Co. was received and approved.
Letters were' received from Mrs. Taylor and Mrs Clark opposing
the matter of the parking area on Orange St. 'and filed.
Mr. Jos. A. Cah°on Sr. was granted a renewal~iof his common vict.
ice cream and soft drin~ license at Siasconset Mass.
The Board had bef6re'it the matter of making a ~asonal estimste
of increased population for the purpose of authorizing
seasonal alcoholic beverage licenses, and on.motion.made
and seconded it was. Voted that the estimate be set at
16,~00.00 the same as'last year. ..
A letter was received from Chief Bartlett that he woald be
,away from the island Feb. 25 -28 and that Asst. Chief
Legg would be in 'charge during this time.
'The matter 0f~the DPW act was discussed and it appearing that
same .had been changed by the State Son,ate to carry
provision that same could be only accepted by a Sp. Town
meeting held at least 90 days before the annual town meeting
of 1966; the Board felt that inasmuch as this matter had
been'a topis of discussion in the town for some time and
,that the best.tunn out of voters would be at the regular
meeting it was felt .that we.should call this special town
meeting to be held at 10 PM'on March 9th the same night
as the regular town meeting. It was voted that we open
"a warrant for a Special town meeting to be' held at .the
High School Aud. on Tues~ March 9th at 10 PM. furtherVoted
that the following article be'inserted therein; Shall an
'act pas~e~e~y the General Court in.the year 1965 entitled
"An act authorizing the Town of Nantucket to establish a
board of public works exercising the. powers of certain other
departments and town officials be accepted." ~urther Voted
that the said Warrant be closed.
There being no further bus~ness the meeting adj. it 9.15 PM.
