He pointed, out that the To~m Treas~er, .Toxin Oler. k and T~ Collector a~e all success~l in their jobs ~d do their work well,' but 'tHe, Finance Com-' mittee recommended raises in those job of $235 for the To~m Treasurer, about $160 for the Town Clerk, $170 fo~ the Tex Collector and only $105 for each ,'~.'~-: of the ~ssessors. He stated he did not kno~ ho~ the Finance Committee arrived at $105' raise for,the A~sessors but 'had been told by a membe~ of,the Com- mittee that the Assessors are o~y p~t-time o~ficers. '~ fie said that if 'part-time' refer~ed to the n~ber of h0~s ~orked then they Wemnot p~t-time since the Assessors work as'.~y ho~s as the others-..~ ~f the Committee me~t that the Assessdrs did not receive all of,their income ~m that job,' they were correct. He said that recently about 600 acres have become' avai~le in the Surfside- ~'area ~o~ as the O'Reilly l~d and the Assessors had been',wor.~ng on.that ~ for~ five 'ye~s. 'L',With the help 'of .the To~.m Treas~er and To~ Co~sel' the' Assessors were able to get the L~d Co~t to give.title to the To~,'.,and if 'the To~ sells the l~d, as it s~o~d,~ there is no reason why they'shouldn't re~iz6 more th~ enou~ to cover a raise for ~e Assessors here,~t6night.
