Frank Powers~ Secretary of the Finance Committee~'~ submitted the report of the Finance Committee 'and a report~ of the Board of Selectmen and the Finance Committee~ on ~rticle 21 of the' 1963 Town Warrant.~ Andrew E.~ Lowell~Chairman of' the Finance Committee~'~ stated that in the lsat two or ~bree years the Cherry Sheet has arrived rather late and that this year the Cherry Sheet arrived after the Finance C~mmittee had made their recommendations. ~'~ Since there was a substantial 'increase in the amount to be received by the' Town this year,' the'Finance Committee-hastily called another meeting to recommend other articles for .this' year.~ Fzince then it has~been discovered that the Town w~l] receive about $20,000 less due to the fact that the 1963 Excise Tax bills were not sent out by the State. ~ After checking with the Assessors the Committee found that the present Warrant as it now stands w~!3'necessitate a tax rate of $59.00 so the Finance Committee has made several revisions, which' ar~: decreases,~ in, order to' lower .the. tax rate to about'$58.O0.
