The meeting came to order at 8PM having been preceeded by the
monthly meeting as Mosquito Control Comm.. all members of
the Board being present.
W~rrant~No. 28, totallfng'$10'$,923.87~was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes'of the'previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Tel'Berna'of the Steamship AUth..was present and discussed
with the Board various matters relative to the Authority.
Advised that a hearing was being held in Boston on Pti.
19 July 1963 by the ICC on the application of Ben Baxter
for a permit or license to operate a freight service to
Nantucket. Mr. Berna'stated that the Authority was going
to oppose this'pet, and requested that the Board do so
also suggested that~a member of the Board and the Town Coun-
sel'attend this hearing, ~,
The metter of the New Haven abonding its freight service to
Woods Hole was discussed it appearing that they had filed
a pet, with the DPU.to,do,so and terminate their freight
run~s at Falmouth,'The Board discussed this matter with Mr.
Berna and felt that gome publicity should,be give to this
matter to determine :.~just how much freight now came by
freight car and what the extra cost wodld be to island
merchants, Rep, Desrocher was present and advised that he
had asked the DPU to delay the hearing on this matter until
,Sept. Mr. Berna advised that this matter,was connected with
the negotiations between the authority and the New Haven to
purchase their Woods Hole,prop, so that it could be develo
as a parking area by, the authority.
The Board and'Rep. Desr0cher advised that .we had be~n informally
advised by the Dept,of Labor.that Nant. had been declared
an area eligible for aid under the accelerated public works
program, that we have been,working on in connection with
trying to obtain funds for'the new town and county office
-bldg ~-
'A letter'was received from the Supt. of. Streets relative to
a request for additional funds for the resurfacing of
· streets and referred to the Finance Committee.
The Sea Cliff, Inn was granted'a'rene~al,of its Innholders and
Sunday ent. licenses, , ,.--~: ....... -,~.~-_.
Dennis Dias was granted a permit,to hold dances oh Tues and Pti.

A letter was received 'from Donald Allen relative'to the 'smell
coming from the incinerator at the lst~Nat, and it was
'voted to write the Co. about this matter,
There being no further business the ~oard went into executive
session and:adj, at,9.45 PM.

Mr. John J. Fortes was granied'a pemit for a dance al Leg. Hall
on 2 Sept. from'lPM ~o 8PM..
Mr. John Kimmitt' dba' the Pines and Nobadeer Rest. were granted
approval of Sunday permits 'for Piano and recorded music
and instrumental music respectively.
bit3 William Kin~ was-present and conferred with ~he Board relative
*o complaints received of signs at the Womans Comfort
s~ation and other devices asking for tips. She sta~e there
were no~ signs and that' she had never asked for tips or
advised, anyone lhey mus~ pay, slated she did have
~. dish on the lable. The Board advised lhat we wanted no
signs, and no dish thai if people offered ~o give her
' a'tip she was-free to accept.
On recommendation 0f Chief Howes Ed.'~ Ganior was appt. at sp. polic,
to serve at the White Elephant Hotel~ and Chris. Schell to
serve.at Comm. Wharf.
Voted to have a sign ~rected at H. Chestnut St. and S. water
~ designating.the~Police Sra.

The Board discussed lhe matter of mosquilos on C6a/ue and the
NE corner of the ~xmx~xpx coskala meadow ~being advised by

driver at the rate of $6.00 per hour, and lhat this would

lhe area. The Board discussed having lhis'area done by
aerial spraying it. appearing thai a plane was doming down
to doo the'Cranberry bogs and i* was~ vo*ed to have *hses
areas sprayed if the price was wilhin our budge* limits.
