The meeting came.to order, at'8:15 PM having been :preceeded by
County Commissioners m ee~ing all members of the Board being
present ,
Warrant No. 25 totalling $38,202~98 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
biinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Francis Holdgate was present and pr~oested ~he removal of
. the street.light on Cliff-Rd. near Hinckley Lane and after
discussion it was voted not to'remove same the Board having.
received calls from other residents in the area also pro-
'testing same.
Mr. Georg~ Burgess Jr. was present and stated that he felt the
Boards action ~in asking that an opening be left in the
Eastern Jetty would be most detrimental ~o the harbor
and the shellfish industry. Letters were received from
Mr. Alexander M. Craig Jr, and Mr,,Albert Pitkin and
Mr.~Clifford Ryder appeared personally all in favor of
the Boards' action and stating that they felt it would be
of great benefit to small boats and would in no way. effect
the harbor.
A letter was received from Chief Howes advising that the dept.
felt that the parking area on S, Water st. at the corner
of L. Pearl near the Miller Fish Mkts/ was causing traffic
'tie ups and that this area should be marked no parking'
the Board so voted.
The following licenses and permits were approved: 'The Breakers
Innholders: O~erlook Hotel, Innholders, Nant..Sea Foods ..
Comm. Vict.: Jessica swain Nixon Common. Vict. Soft drink
and ice cream; Siasconset Caslon permit for dances on-
July 4th and 12th and~Aug., 2,' 23 and Sept.~ 2 all from 9 ,to 1
Westmoor Inn,' Innholders Lic. Miacomet Golf Clug Common Vici
Nanti Theatre Festival; permit' for Folk singing concerts
and the Nant.' Garden Club to sell tickers on main st.
A letter from the Nant. Gas & EleC. Co. relative to'an increase
in the wattage of street lights was voted referred to the
Finance Comm.~'for their comments.
The'matte~r~of moto~,s~0oters and the noise'and nuisance caused by
same was discussed and voted to request'the~'opinon of the
Town Counsel as to wheiher we could pass an ordinace barring
same. .~ ~ .... · ' "~ .... ~"· ·
There being no further .business the Board went into executive
session and adh. at 9.45 PM;~ ' "~
