The meeting Came to order at 7.45 PM with'~he
the Sewer Commission for the purpose of selecting
a new,member to fill the vacancy caused byk, the resignation
of Mr. Rounsville until the next town election. Present
were all,board members ~nd Mr. Tyrer and Mr. Bartlett
of the Sewer,,Comm. only one application for,this,app-
J ointment was before the Board and none other being
:~ offered it was on motion duly made and seconded unanimousl'
,. voted That Mr. Wallace B., Deacon be appointed to the
sewer Commission.
Minutes of,the previous meeting Were read and approved.
Warrant No. 19 totalling $52,534.03 Was presented by Town
Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by,the Board.
Douglal B. Lawrence met with the Board and submitted a,bid
of 500.00 on Art. 108 calling for the const.,of a
Board walk in Sconset and being the only bidder same
.was voted approved.. .~
Mr. Douglas B. Lawrence discussed with the Board'the matter of
art. 48 calling for steps at Pocomo and'stated that he
could not build same as apecific~ for the amount app.
but ,that he, could with some changes build a satisfactory
set of/steps. It was voted to have Mr..Lawrence write
out what he would offer, he being the og!y bidder.
Mr. Richard Kalman in behalf of the Leg. post'requested a permit.
for.their annual'carnical on Aug. 6th thr,10th whihh was
approved.and also requested permission to have'a fireworkds
display, .this latter was left subject to approval of the
chief of the Fire De~t.
Mr. Donald Boyd was granted a renewal or,his common Vier., ice
cream and soft drink lic. at Suzys Snack,bar at St, Wharf.
A parade rouie Was Sumiteed for ihe me oriai d y' parade and
Mr. Robert Ruly requested a St.,light on Franklin St. and
Mr. Sherwood smith:one on Willard St. both of these matter8
were tabled pending the'annual inspection of lights by, the
'Approval Was ~ranted'~6r the chestm0bile to park on Middle Pearl
The following licenses and 'permits were granted: MrS Esther Swayz
Common Vict.,to a put up lunch business;.Downey Flake
Doughnut Common Vict.; Thomas McGrath Junk Dealers Lic.
Howad Hull, James Allen and L.', Ayers,, Taxi permits.
Mr. Manuel J.'.~rry was granted a permit for a dance~ at Legion
The Board discussed the matter of a commitee under art 87
to' study the matter of a small boat harbor, at Eeel Point.
but took no action on same at this time.
There being no further business the Board wen~ into executive
session and adj. at 10 PM.
Ex. Session:,The Board act with 'a threen ~rimes.who idvised
that she would be.retiring the last of.,A~g.'and would like
~ to take the last two weeks as her~vac, same'voted approved.
Selectmens Meeting 22 May 1963: .. .
The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the Boardbeing ~' present. -~.
Warrant No~ 20, totalling $41,216.33 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Jos.,Caton was present and conferred with the Board relative
to obtaining water service at the circle at the head of
Main St. Voted to write the water co. and see if they would
provide the town a tap at this location without cost.:::
Miss Gladys Wood also wrote requesting the Boards cons
of this matter.
Mr. Allan Holdgate, Harbor Master met with the Board and dis(
the specification for madaket buoys and the hauling and
setting of madaket and Nant. Harbor buoys. Voted to adv.
for these various items all to be in by next meeting.
Mr. Thomas Larrabee was present and suggested'that the Sportsmans
Club Comm would need 250 lbs of DowPon for the spraying
.of the Cat-tails in long pond and it was voted to have the
Secy..'order same.
On motion' duly made and seconded it was voted that the Call men
'in the fire dept. other than the regular full time employees
be ~classified as SPECIAL TOWN EMPLOYERS.
Application was received and approved from John Kimmett dba The
:Pines for a Common Vici. and week day ent. license
Esther Gibbs was granted a renewal of her Innholders Lic. at N. Shore Rest.
An apPlication from G. Elmore Taylor for a permit'to close of
a section of Liberty Lane (Colemans Court) in order to
work .on the Wa;ne bldg. was approved., . ,,
Douglas Lawrence submitted bids and spec; on the steps at Pocomo
in the amount of 200.00 dollars and on those at Surfside
at $250.00 dollars and samw were approved with the cond.
that the Surfs;de steps be completed by 15 June 63.
Vincent Arno requested a renewal of his'Common Vici. and rec.
music ent..lic, at Arno's Del Rest. on Main st. whch were
--:'approved.:He also requested that he be allowed to stay open
~untii 2 AM and this was tabled~by the Board for consultation
with the Chief of Police.
A r~quest Was received from Mr. and Mrs'Nathan'Thurston for
: 'a street light on Surfside Rd. near their prop. and tabled
'.for later inspection.' " '-
Voted to open the Town Comfort Sra.' on ~'~' May thru 2 June
and then again open on 15 June thru 28 Sept. for the season.
The Boy..'Scouts CamPoree was granted apermit for a'parade on 31 '.. May...

Taxi permits were granted to K, N. Pease, H. and Marie Thurston
''and Kent K. King. "
A requested was received and apprOved to have the bell toll at
llAM on Memorial daY.
