The.meeting came to order at 8.20 PM having been preceeded by
a Sp. Meeting as County Commissioners, all members of the ·
Board being.present except Mr. Meilbye, .,~ ,~
Warrant No. 34,~t°talling $14,333.30 was pres~n't~d by'T0wn'Ac~t',
Barrett and checked ~nd approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Voted to~ advise the polic~ dept. of the Boards decision that they
would grant.no permits for dancing on Sunday.
Shellfish Warden Francis w~s. present and 're~uested 'that the Bast
Harbor and a portion of the West Harbor in Polpis be closed
to the taking of Shellfish (Quahogs) from 1 Sept. until furt!
notice, due to the fact that he would be planting col
seed stock in.these two areas. It was so voted.
Miss Nan' Ri¢k' Of:~h~ Eagle and Key was present and aSKed
Board to reconsider its action in'ordering said place
business to,close at midnight, she explained what she felt
were the~'circumstances that caused the Boards action, and,
her assistant Mgr. Miss Suzanne Young stated that,on two ,1
occasions,an officer of the Police Dept. had come in and~
once helped himself to coffee and on another occasion asked
for coffee, she also stated that said officer on the street
near said Rest. made a pass at her. Note this was later clar~
by Miss Young~the,next day to mean that the'officer had said
her Hello you there or words of that nature.
Later in the meeting the Board voted to make no change in the
midnight closing hour ..... '~
The Board executed a letter to the Airport comm.-certifying that .
Town'funds were availavle for expansion of the aircraft park~
~A report was received from Dr.,Guba that-Japanese Beetles had beer
discovered in some quantity in an-area on Willard St. and
same was refferred to the insect pest control officer for
attention.
Paul F. Whitten wrote requesting a street sign on Mranklin St.~
and same was approved and referred to. the Highway dept.
Aletter was received'from'residents of Codfish Pk. requesting
a street light and action on old bldgs, and cars and the Board
decided to visit the area on 12 Sept.
A letter was received from Senator S~ltonstall enclosing a copy
of letter he had sent to the ~xm$x Committee in charge of
Army Eng.' appropriations requesting funds for a study of
Nant. Harbor.
Secy.' 'Glidden reported 'that Dr.' Kelly of Pocasset was in th~
process of-setting up a meeting with the Selectmen of:-,
Dukes,:Barnstable and Nantucket for a discussion with state.
officials of the T. B, program. Tenative date being the 13th
of Sept.
.Voted tO refer to the'Highway~dept, requests for slow signs in
Madaket, and also the matter of signs designating the Hosp.
suggesting that,the latter signs be on Atlantice Ave. near
S. Prospect, at the Mill Hill area and near the corner of
Pleasant and York.
The Board discussed the matter of'"0ffe~ing a re~ard for informati~
leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or 'person~
causing damage to town property and it was voted'to inquire
~v~% of the Town Counsel if we had authority to do so.

The Board' discussed the matter .of closing hours' of' restaurants
and ,voted to have all restaurants close and 1AM and the-
patrons to be off the premises by 1.30 AM.
There being 'no furtheX business the Board went into executive
