The meeting Came to,order at 7.30~PM all'members of the Board
being present.
Warrant No.,20 totalling $22,665.48 was Presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board,
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
'Chief of Police,Howes, Chief of the Mire Dept. Bartlett and
Supt. of Streets Jaeckle; members of the,traffic Committee
were present,and discussed with the Board various recommend~
which were then voted on as follows:
Ions
Lyon St. one way from Fair to Pleasant, no parking either .
Hussey St.'~No,parklng from Center to W. or,David Roberts .
Main St. at Quaker Rd, install a stop sign on Main'St. to
West bound drivers on Main. :
S; Water'St. No parking from L. pearl to M~in S~. year
L. Pleasant St. at Williams Lane, remove existing stop sign
and'replace with a Silent Policeman,.and also have Ch
Howes request a school traffic patrol1 assigned to this
corner when school is letting out. ~ .....
Sightseeing busses. Load and Unlaod on Broad street between
Federal and S. Water S side. One buss in stand at time
for loading, busses to be off the street at all times
when not.in transit or in, the bus~ stand loading or un-
loading.
W. Chester St. at N. Liberty, remove existing stop sign and
install stop sign to face West bound drivers on W. Chest ~r St.
Candle St. Stop sign at corner of Salem to face South boun¢
drivers on Candle St. ~
Supt. of'streets Jaeckle discussed with the Board the matter of
the centre lineing of streets and submitted figures of
145.20 per solid line per mile and 132.00 per mile of broke~
line from Safety Lines.Co. Inc. of Cambridge Mass, he advis(
that this firm was doing this work at Edgartown. The Board
later in the meeting approved this quotation, the center
lineing to.~e all white, and the Supt. to advise Qf his
estimate of mileage envolved.
Bids were received froTM Graham Radio Co. for the furnishing of
Gonsett 1¥ radios'for the C. D. dept. they being the only
bidder in the, amount of $404.00 each for two units. Same
was voted approved.
Mr. Tel Berna, o~-the Hsitorical ~sso. and ~e Maria Mitchell
Asso was present and presented a letter from Dr. Hoffelight
with reference to the matter of the light on Pole No. 3
interferring with the use of the Observatory. the Board
took this matter under advisement to look at the area in
question.
Bids on Madaket Moorings were received as follows: Art. 95:
Donald Holdgate and Orison V. Hull ........ 1383.00
Walter Barrett and George Andrews .... i---1275.00
Voted that same be awarded the lowest bidder.
Mr. Lawrence Ayers and Garrett Huy~er were granted renewal Of
their taxi licenses.
The metier of.a meeting With the Barns/able'County and Dukes
CountyComm. relative to the reorganization of the TB Hosp.
set up was discussed and a date of Sunday 3 June was suggesJ
An application of the Navy Wives for permission to hold a block
dance on 3 July and 1 Sept. on lower Pearl St. was tabled
one week.

as to form by the H.D.C
Voted to request ~the Light Co. to relocate a ploe '°n Harbor View
