The meeting came to order at 7.30 PM all members 'of the Board
being present. .. . ~,:
Warrant No. 2, totalling $30,059.00 was presented by Town Acct.
Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.-
Mr. Tel Berna, Ch. Steamship Authority was present and discussed
with the Board a legislative bill which would give life tenure
to the Gen. Mgr. of the Authority. The Boards feeling was that
we were opposed to this bill in accordance with our previous
letter to Mr. Berna.
Mr. Elwyn Francis, Shellfish warden was present and reported that
Kenneth W. Holdgate Jr.'had taken three bags of scallops which
were practically all seed under the existing state law, and wh!ch
is a violation of local regulations.'Mr. Holdgate was present
and admitted that the scallops taken were mostly seed, stated
that this was his first year scalloping alone and that he was
not too familiar with the difference. After discussion it was
voted that Mr. Holdgates license be suspended until next Monda
Warden Francis suggested that the shimmo bend area be closed to
the taking of scallops, the area being all to the east of a
line from Shimmo Pt. to Abrams point.and it was So Voted.
Bids on collecting rubbish and garbage from various to~ and
county bldgs, were redeivd as follows:
Myles Reis 418.00 Albert JohnSen Jr. 418.00 Nathan Thurston
360.00. Mr. Reis'asked as to the regulatfions:as to equipmen
and it was voted that before this matter be awarded that we
have Mr. Franklin the sanitation insp. inspect Mr. Thurstons
equipment.
Mr. Johnsen and Mr. Reis were granted renewals of their licenses
to transport garbage.
A letter from the chamber of Commerce was received enclosing
.correspondence with Hastings Keith relative to obtaining a
. surplus ship to be used to try and prevent shore erosion at
Broad Creek area.
Letters were received~from Mr. Arthur RosenbaUm~and Mrs H, Moller
enclosing clippings from a newspaper which suggested the use
of.old christmas trees to prevent.shore erosion.
A letter was received from D'r. Wylie. L.' Collins, setting forth'
some of the problems he also had had with gas coming into his
home from the sewer mains.
Mr. Kent K. King was granted a renewal ~f.his Innholders lice. at the Moorings and Gardner St .....
A letter was received from Mr. joh~ ~eb0, tendering his rest
asr. Janitor Town and County bldgs.' and it was voted to adv. for
applications for this job.
The'American Legion Post was grante~ a one night wine and malt li
at. its hall on 13 Jan. 1962
A letter was received from Mrs. Robert' Taylor relative to her wat,
bills copies of which she had sent to the DPU and the Gov.
Island Mtrs. Inc. was granted a Class I used car dealers lic.
Mr. Pease suggested that we publish in the Town report the various
~salaries of the.town e~ected officials , and after discussion
it was voted, this to include also salaries from both town and
county, if one person received two salaries.

Mrs 3esse Murphy~and Mr.','$esse Eldridge,discussed ~ith the Board
a proposed 8hange of:location of the wine and malt license,
prsently held by. Mrs Murphy at premises'on Milestone
a new location on Shell:St. T&is matter was discussed'at'some
length and~the Board was;of the opinion, that we would not
look favorably on such a request to this proposed location
because of the character of the neighborhood.'
