The meeting came to order at 8.08'having been~preceeded by a
County Commissioners meeting, all members of the Board being
'present.
Warrant No: 1, totalling $2,237.03 and Warrant No. 53 totalling
8,354.98 was .presented by'Town Acct. Barrett and checked
and approved.by the Board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and'approVed..
Voted to have the cellar of the Sanford House cleaned out and the ~loor repaired.
Bids on the 1961 Town report were received and Opened as follows:
Nant, Town C-~ier $3.44 per page; Inq. & Mirrov $3.77 per page
Voted that same be awarded the lowest bidder the Town Crier.
Bids on Postal Cards'for Water Co. investigat, ion'were received as
follors:
Nant. Town Cr~er.139.50~ Inq. & Mirror $~38.00 Voted'~h'at
be awarded the lowest bidder the Inq. & Mirror.'
Fuel ~il bidsWere received as follows:
Island Ser. Co. .1725 per gal; Sherburne Oil Co. .17~5 per
Voted that same be awarded the lowest bidder the Island Ser.
Mr. Tel Berna wrote in behalf of Shimmo residents requesting the
continuation of the spraying for mosquitoes and same was vote
referred to %he Finance Committee.
Mr. Berna also wrote,in behalf of the Maria Mitchell Ass0. with.
reference to the light on Vestal St. bothering the Obs. and
it was~suggested that we contact the-light Co. with reference
to a different type fixture.
A letter and reply from the Ch. of Comm. to Hastings ~eith.relativ
to conditions .at Madaket and the idea of obtaining a barge
etc. to sink in the area was read and filed.
Voted to advise Rep.~ Mooney that we would be in Boston on next
Thurs the llth to meet with the DPW Waterways Div. on Broad
and Hither Creek, and also that we have our next regular
meeting on next Tuesday.
A letter from Nantucket cranberries relative to the rent Of
Sconset dump was received and voted'referred to the Finance
Committee.
The Political Calander as submitted by the Town Clerk ~as read
and approved.
A letter was rece~ed from the DPU in'reply to.our information
relative to fire.protection. 'And~the Secy advised.that ~.
Orpin had advised that they wege working up costs etc. to
correct the situations complained off.
The following licenses Were approved: Congdons Ph, Ice cream;
Anthony Docca, Common, Vict; Gordon Mt. and Albert L. Silva
Inc. Class I used car dealgrs; Lamb Post and Island Dairy Bar
Common Vict. Soft drink and Ice cream;
Voted to inquire of the Police Chief and'supt.of streets when we
might expect the traffic survey;
Voted to write Mr. Berna~.of the Authority, our objections to the
bill to provide life tenure for the Auth. Mgr.
Voted ,to have the Authority parking area flooded for skating if
9~/)we can obtain authority from the Steamship Auth.
