The meeting came~to order at ?~30 PM all members of the Board ' being present except Mr. Pease.
Warrant No. 47, totalling l~/~ZO2 was presented by Town Acct'. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board.
Minutes of the 'previous meeting were read and approved.
On recommendation of Chief~Howes the foll°w£ng were appointed
as Sp. Police officers to serve at Basketball games at the
High School gym. : Patrick Paradis; John Santos Jr. Clifford
Ryder, Joseph Perry and Maxwell Ryder.
Chief Howes also,repo~ted that he.and Sgt. Chadwick would get
together with'Sgt~ Haley of the State Police and work out
a plan of coverage by the two depts as suggested by the Boar(
and that they would report to. the Board.:
On suggestion of Mr. Tel'Berna of the Authority, it was voted
to send a letter to Lewis Weinstein~Esq. Arty for the Auth.
and advise that the Board had never given'.authority for
any counsel to appear for Nantucket with reference to the
pet. by Hyannis.and Falmouth to bar the authority from
operating out of Hyannis.
Rep. Mooney submitted an authorization to be signed by the,Board
relative to the bill of the Park and Rec. Comimission to
borrow outside the debt limit, same to be permissive leg.
The Board signed same.
A letter from a Robert Scott in Re: controlled burning was receiw and contents noted.
Renewal applications for liquor licenses were received fromthe
following: Harold and Felemena Ryder; Walther and Helen Hatch
Murrays Beverage Store Inc.; The Islander Inc. and-James
T. Worth Inc. Also an application from Harold and Pelemena
Ryder for approval of the transfer of their license to a
Corp. Ryder's Inc.' of'which they are the majority stockholder
Voted that same take the'course prescribed by~!aw.
Mr. Richard Porter Supt. of Schools wrote requesting a Schbol
sign at Sunset Pass and Lily St. and same was voted referred
to the Supt. of Streets.
Mr. Arthur'Gibbs wrote, s~bmitting his resignation from the Planni
-Board, and same was accepted, and voted to send a letter of
-thanks to Mr. Gibbs.
The American Legion Post was granted a permit for a one night~
wine and malt license at their,premises in connection with
a member and guest dance on 25 Nov. 61.
Pole locations from the N.E. Tel & Tel and Nant. Gas and ~lec
Co. were.approved as~follows: Western Ave. Surfside, remove
two poles; Vesper Lane relocate one pole.
A letter was received'from Mrs LoUise A. Logan relative to her
water bill and placed on file.
Applications for transfer from the Sewer Dept. 7000~00 dollars
and the fire Dept. 1300.00 dollars were received and voted
referred to the Finance Committee. The sewer transfer to
cover a pipe line connecton to the U.S.C.G. Loran Sra.
the C. G. to reimburse the town this amount on completion
of this work.
Ch. Killen reported'he had had a phone call from Mr. Heard of
airlines relative to support of their Pla. petition and it
was voted to have the Secy. contact. Mr. Heard relative to th~
matter.
