HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-11-01Selectmens Meeting 1 Nov, '1961 The meeting~came to Order at 7,30 PM all members of the Board-, being present, Warrant No. 44, totalling $16,422.22 Was presented by Town ACCt. ,Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of-the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. William J. Burke applicant for a transfer of the seasonal Comm. Vict. all alcoholic lic. held by,Parker W. Gray was present and the Board being in receipt of character reference after discussion with Mr. Burke voted to approve~ the transfe: of said license. Mr. and Mrs Siepehn Herlltx and Mr. Howard Bardsley of Madaket were present and discussed with the Board the matter fo the Broad Crrek opening.'After much discussion it was voted to ask the Dept. of Public Works and the Army Eng, to send Eng. to the Island to..view this area and advise. Mr. Elwyn Francis Sr. Shellfish warden was present and advised that he and Mr. Andrews had conferred with Mr. Gomes the Harbor Master and made arrangements to place a line of buoys in the Broad creek area as discussed last week, The Board voted to approve same. A letter was received from Mrs Norman Meilbye relative to mosquito and filed, A letter ,was also received from Mr. Betram Gerry of the State Re- clamation Board enclosing various publicity releases used on the cape~ and voted same be referred to the Mosquitoe Control Comm. Mr. G. Halsey. Rep. Mooney Wrote advising that he would attend the C.D. 'meeting at Boston in our behalf. A form notice 'relative to listing of roads tO the shores was received from the DPW,and referred to the .County Clerk to compile. A letter was received from Mr. William Leffl~r advising that after consideration of the problems envolved;it was his-opinion fha' the town would not be in a position to open the water co. case until after January. Suggested however that interested parties write their protests of the present rates to.the DPUi A letter was received from Mr. Dan Wight relative to controlled burning and filed~ .... ,,~ ' A letter was received from C.' D, Headwuarters'advising of a for~um to be held on fall out shelters and filed. The Ameri'~n Legion Post 'was granted a pe,rmit to parade under arms on Vet, Day, 11 Nov. 61 ...... The Leg. Aux. was gran%ed a permit for Poppy days on May 3rd and 1962. Voted to write the Dist. Highway Eng. relative~to relocation of the signs on the state highway near Sconset. A letter was received from the Sewer Comm., asking for a joint meeting with the Finance Committee. and referred to the Finance Committee.
