A letter was,received from the Chamber Of Commerce relative to
'an~ordinance on dress'and after discussion it was voted~to
request,an opinion of'the Town Counsel on this matter.
A'letter was received from Mrs Leroy H. True~ Secy. of ,the DAR
requesting~that'the Board proclaim~the week of 17 Sept.
thru 23 Sept. as Consitition and it was so-Vsotedj '
The m~tter of Magnolia Ave. i~ Sc°nset was discussed~,'and it was
voted to refer this matter to'the next county meeting.
There being no further business the Board went'into'executige
session and adj. at 9PM. ' '

The matter 'of floor'covering at the new Utility'ro0m kitchen
at Our'Island Home was discussed the Board receiv4ng'a
quote of aprox'$200.O0 from the Marine Lumber Co.,for instal:
Corlon ~inal yard covering on same.' It was voted to approve
same providing waterpr0of'glue was used.
The matter of ~he ~ianding ramp at Madaket'was discussed knd
it was voted to approach various local contractors as to
their interest in this matter ·
Voted to-Write the'St~fe police and ask if
willing to assume the duties of covering accident,and calls
outside of the Town proper.

Minutes of the previous meeting' were read and~approved.
,~Ir. Blwyn Francis, Shellfish warden was present and discussed.
with the Board the applications' necessary for scallop fish-,
ermen to file, for opening permits etc.
suggested thai we open the season on.soft .shell clams for"
three months starting'l'Oct. Sundays only, one ten qt. pail
to a license and that the size be 2" and same was' so Voted.
Warden ~rancis reiterated th'~t the Quohogs we had planted in
Polpis Harbor were from a contaminated area'and that it was
dangerous for anyone to take and eat them until the area has
been opened. ~ ....
~.Ir. W. Ripley Nelson' of the'Civic League was'present and turned
over to the Board various data collected by the League with
reference to the Area redevelopment act, suggested that this
was so broad a field that a committee repre,senting various
organizations on the island be appointed ~o work with. the
Board in developing this matter. This matter was 'taken under
advisement for study.by the Board.
Voted to close 'the Comfort stations~for ~lack of funds this coming
Sat. .
Voted ~to ask the Town Acct. f~r a~ list~ Of balances'~
A letter was received from theoffice of the se~y. of ~state comment ~g
on the lack of adequate vault £acilities at the Town Clerks
office and urging the Board to redtify this matter.
A letter'relative,to motor,s~oot~rs was receivedfrom a Dr. B. W.~
Shannon and filed.
A letter was received from the Public Relations Committee requesti:tg
that we, ask our Rep.~ to file a bill .to increase the amount
the g~zxgx Town may appropriate for publicity purposes from
30,000 to 40,000 after discussion it was voted to request_
.that:this be raised to 100,000 inasmuch as the matter is
only permissive. .
Voted to'inquire of the sewer. Commission of any report ~'ece'ived
on the survey of surface drains and sewers etc.
There being no further business~:the Board went into executive
session and ajd. at 9.30 PM.
