HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-08-16-The meeting came to order at 8PM all members of the Board being present. ' Warrant No. 33, totalling $11,881.81 was presented by Town Acct. Barrett and checked and approved by the Board. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Kent was present and advised the Board that he would be carrying on the Sidewalk Art Show in the future and.asked the Boards consideration to Continue at the same location at the Sanford House. Same was approved with the suggestion that he write a note to the Board in the Spring giving the dates etc of next years show. The 36th Acct. of the Sanford Trust was examined and signed by the Board. Notice was received from the D.P.W. that the annual county haarin would be held at Nantucket on 8 Sept. at 10.00 at the Selectmens Rooms. A letter was received from ~hs. G. Snow tendering his resignation the the Town and County Bldg. committee and same was accept~ with regrets. Ch. 90 maintenance agremments with the DPW for the next six month~ were received and signed by the Board. A letter was received from Daniel Wight thanking the Board for giving permission for a shade on a light near his residence Mrs L. G. Sherburne at 19.India St. was granted a permit for a rummage sale on thursday the 17th. Margaret Pope was granted a permit to erect a sign over the .sidewalk at her place of business on Walnut Lane, same having been approved by the H.D.C. Mr. John L. Hardy tendered his~resignation as a member of the -. local draft Board due to the fact that'he is now spending the winters off Island, and same was voted accepted with eegrets. The Nant. Civic League presented a proclamation relative to Rag- Weed which was approved'and signed by the-Board with the request that same be carried in both local papers. Mr. IrvingHoldgate was granted a renewal"0f his Taxi per~it~ It was voted to have the Stop sign at Sparks Ave. and Lower Orang St. which is now located up'against ~ilestone Mtrs. relocated in.the new island triangle.at this intersection. Also voted to have a stop sign erected on Lower Pleasant St at Williams Lane, to'face South bound drivers on Lower Pleasant St. The matter of the~Pire Dept. RessecUitator~ Call being answered 'by the full force of call men was discussed and it was voted to'inquire of the Chief as to this. Voted to erect a stop sign on Hoicks Hollow Rd. at Polpis Rd.'so as to face drivers on Hoicks Hollow Rd as they enter Polpis Voted to have Chief Howes meet With us next week to discuss ~lans 9i~ for handling the Labor Day crow~s and also the matter of · ' % motor scooters.
